The XL-DVDRAM from Sound Devices is an external FireWire-based optical drive designed for use with 7-series recorders. The slot-loading drive can be used to backup existing recordings, or for real-time recording to an optical disk.
The drive is bus powered, so you can plug it into your recorder and start working right away. For non-FireWire applications, the XL-DVDRAM can be used with a USB connection and separate power supply. The drive can also be used as a standard external optical drive with a Mac or PC; no drivers required.
Note! For real-time recording, it is recommended that the XL-1394 filter (sold separately) is connected to prevent power supply noise from reaching the recording.
