This is a Bowens 42" Reflector Disc. It has a silver, and a gold side. Silver increases specular highlights and yields a high-contrast, cool tone image. Gold has a sunset effect and warms the scene producing healthy looking skin tones.

I use the Bowens Reflector Disc in the field. I am a documentary photographer and working on the streets often requires additional light: portraits, shady sides of the street, and rather than a flash I prefer to bounce in light. 42" gets me enough light, yet it is not too large to hold in one hand while I photograph with the other
It is strong and I do not have to worry about where I take it. Have been using them for many years.

I ordered this reflector Sight unseen. [...] Since it is my first reflector I was anxious to start using it. I took it out of it's small case, it popped open as expected & I proceeded to have fun trying various set-ups, lighting, etc. I then tried to "fold" it back into it's case, and then I tried again, various photographer friends tried and re-tried. Finally success, I'm now afraid to take it out again.

It reflects a really nice amount of light, so it can be used when there's no chance to carry a monolight or as a great complement to a lightning system. Some say it's difficult to fold it and the first time you do it, that's true, but if you do it carefully, you'll learn how to in no more than 5 minutes. After two weeks using it, I can fold it in less than 5 seconds.

Well made, folds very nicely and travels great in the accompanying carrying case. Great for all lighting situations whether you need the gold side for warmer more yellow light or the silver side for stronger lighting white light situations.

This is definitely a cheap and very useful addition to any home or professional filmmaker/photographer. The quality is amazing especially for the price. I use this to add more light to a person for interviews. You can add "warm" light with the gold side and "cold" light with the silver side. A great and not so great thing about it is the size when unfolded. It provides more light but it does take up a lot of room when opened. But it does compact very easily into a small portable disk. I would recommend this to a friend.

Works great on either side. Great size when open, not too big, not too small. Folding could be tricky, but once folded fits easily in case. Should come with better instructions on how to fold. I can see how it easily confuses. Myself included.

I purchased the 42 inch Reflector and am very glad I did. I do a good deal of outdoor photography in areas that are overcast with shadows. The reflector allows me to cast much needed light onto the subject. This reflector easily supplies the amount of light that would normally be given by 2 studio lights. Being it is a larger disk size, I'm sure that the amount of light it reflects will cover the entire subject matter I am shooting. Having the variation of gold side allows for great skin tones. I have not had any concerns with glair overpowering the subject / seen on the finished frame nor have any models had any negative feedback about glair in their eyes from the light that is reflected onto them. It unfolds & folds very easy and it's case does have a loop that I attach to my camera bag for easy hands free carrying without a fuss.

Simple, easy, packs small, does exactly what it's supposed to do. I love the packed size, considering how big it is unfolded. The steel ring can be a challenge to fold, but that does make it a bit sturdier. I photographed 2 children outdoors last week, and they stepped on it whenever I set it down, and it held up well. My only concern is durability when I try to clip it to a stand. I haven't tried it yet but I'm not convinced it will hold up.

This reflector adds that perfect touch of light when you need it and it's very easy to use. It's Great for fill light when you have one main light and also for reflecting sunlight. I recommend having someone either hold it for you or use a stand. It also easily leans up against furniture.
