I just (as of 1week) bought a Pentax K20D (and waited patiently for over 6 months to afford it!), and aside from a stellar opinion of the camera, I do suggest getting an extra battery. Having said that the pentax battery lasts very long (5days without charging) and will last longer if you turn off the monitor and/or lower it's brightness.
Also, the battery can be recharged successfully and fully even when it's not completely depleted (it has a charge memory ability) - and if you read other reviews elsewhere others say that it also lasts for many more charges.
It's well made and it's pentax. Don't go for the cheaper brands!

It's always nice to know that you will have a reliable battery when you are out taking pictures. I am in a cold weather environment a good portion of the year, but have never had to worry about this battery holding up.

More expensive than the generics, but in the end you get what you pay for. I've tried the Duracell and EverReady Brands and after a few months of draining and recharging the batteries were unable to hold a charge. Conversely, the Pentax pack which I originally got with my K-10D two years ago still functions like new - Consequently, I stopped trying alternatives and went with another Pentax.

I bought an off-brand substitute for this and it just up and died after a couple months. This one charges quicker than that one did. I also have another from Pentax (the one that came with my camera) and it has performed like a champ for a year or so now. I expect the same from this one.

I bought this at the same time as the battery grip for my Pentax K20D. Where as it isn't an essential accessory it is nice having the extra battery power for long sessions without having to worry about recharging the batteries. I plan on buying at least two more.

I ordered a replacement D-L150 Rechargeable Li-Ion battery for my Pentax K10D because I figured that with as many times as I charge mine, I should have a backup to rotate through.
The battery has a great, long lasting and reliable charge that it is easy to forget to charge my battery as it keeps going for a long time.
Definitely a worthy investment to have a new or backup for anytime you want to make sure that you aren't left unable to capture the moment.

I use this battery in my Pentax K 20D. I am impressed with the duration of the charge. I can take thousands of pics at 14.6 pixels. I take them in raw + j peg, and I review a lot of pics after I take them. I have heard that drains the battery fast, but I have not noticed, if it does. I don't think there is anything that is not great about it.
