The Sigma 150mm f/2.8 APO Macro EX DG HSM Lens is a super compact and lightweight large aperture telephoto lens, with life-size macro capability.

To maintain high optical performance from infinity to close-up 1:1 macro photos without accessories, this lens incorporates a "Floating Internal Focusing" (FIF) system. As a result, the lens also features a non-rotating front lens group which makes it easier to work with polarizing filters. The HSM feature provides ultra quiet high-speed autofocusing as well as full-time manual focus override.

The improved DG lens design corrects for various aberrations. This macro lens is specially coated to get the best color balance whilst cutting down on ghosting caused by reflections from the digital image sensor. The lens provides the utmost correction against lateral chromatic aberration which is a serious problem for digital SLR cameras.

Close focus capability of 15", with life-size magnification
Two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass elements control various color aberrations and assure high image quality

Comments about Sigma Telephoto 150mm f/2.8 EX APO Macro EX DG HSM Autofocus Lens for Olympus Digital Cameras (Four Thirds System):

I had held off on purchasing this lens, in part due to some of the negative reviews on this site. I also own the Zuiko 50MM f2.0 macro and the Sigma 150 f2.8 macro.

I have to say, this is an excellent lens, and I have not experienced any front or back focusing issues, I find that it focuses correctly and reasonably fast (for a macro lens). The tripod collar design is excellent and image quality is fantastic.

I shoot portraits more than anything else, but I've been wanting to do more macro photography and this lens is very well suited to that purpose. I haven't had the opportunity to try it for portraits yet, but I think it will make a nice lens for portraits also. I often use my 105MM for portraits and as long as you are aware of the macro focusing issues, it makes a fantastic portrait lens.

Comments about Sigma Telephoto 150mm f/2.8 EX APO Macro EX DG HSM Autofocus Lens for Olympus Digital Cameras (Four Thirds System):

The lens seems to be a good lens as long as you are using manual focus. When the AF does work don't expect speed it is slow, but most people use a macro in MF mode anyway. The lens does a decent job as a portrait lens, but again don't expect it to focus very fast. The lens does also seem to hunt a bit while trying to lock focus. I had a front focus issue with the AF, and the AF stopped working at about 3 months of ownership. I talked with Sigma and they said send the camera and lens in for calibration. They fixed the AF motor, but the front focus issue is still there. All I can say is each time I have dealt with Sigma they have been rude, and I was not confrontational over my issues.I will not be buying another Sigma lens their service is very poor.

Comments about Sigma Telephoto 150mm f/2.8 EX APO Macro EX DG HSM Autofocus Lens for Olympus Digital Cameras (Four Thirds System):

I shoot models, this lens is very slow and when it locks it's focus can be hit or miss!! Sometimes it is crisp and sharp sometimes it is blurry!! Most of all, I found that it wanders or hunts for focus constantly searching for the subject that it is pointed at!!! I am sending it back along with more money and waiting for the Sigma 70-200 2.8!! I hope it works or I do not know what I will do!!

Comments about Sigma Telephoto 150mm f/2.8 EX APO Macro EX DG HSM Autofocus Lens for Olympus Digital Cameras (Four Thirds System):

I do live macrography. I wanted this lens because of the Floating Internal Focus system. The lens barrel does not extend or rotate. It's a sharp bright lens at f/2.8 and Image Quality is excellent. It was a bit of a surprise to find the range switch on the side. This allows full 1:1 lifesize macro (2:1 in 35mm film terms), mid range closeup and full telephoto. This lens does its best in the 1:1 mode, and closest focusing range is about 10". Very good for insects.
I use this lens on an E-500 and E-510.
I can't fault this lens. It does what it is supposed to and very well at that.

Never had any problem with the Sigma 150mm on a Olympus E-1. One of the best macros for any camera mount.

Very sharp lens with excellent contrast.

Sigma has one of the best warranties and customer service around.

Comments about Sigma Telephoto 150mm f/2.8 EX APO Macro EX DG HSM Autofocus Lens for Olympus Digital Cameras (Four Thirds System):

the first lens had a front focus problem of 8 inches at 15 feet,, it would not focus to infinity,, B&H replaced it,,the second lens was even worse,, it would just hunt and seldom find focus,, if I manually focused on an item it would start hunting for something else to focus on,, at times it would only make a clicking sound and do nothing,, I called Sigma NY and they said to send it to them to be fixed,,???? I told them this was my second attempt at trying the 150mm and they could care less,, just send it in to be fixed was their reply,,I returned it to B&H for a refund,,

      The real deal

      By Gene

      from jesup, ga us

Comments about Sigma Telephoto 150mm f/2.8 EX APO Macro EX DG HSM Autofocus Lens for Olympus Digital Cameras (Four Thirds System):

if you are prepared for the issues involving serious macro work, this is the ticket. remarkable value considering it's also a great telephoto. when only releases the new 2x teleconverter, with this lens you'll have 35mm equivelent of 600mm around f4. it also works with the only ex-25 extension tube. this lens is not as robust as it seems. the mount is the wink link. the metal mount is fastened internally with a plastic piece held by 3 small screws. it wont take much of an impact to break, so caution must be observed. mine flopped over on a ballhead & broke but sigma did a perfect repair and i couldn't be happier. i have ordered a FLM Centerball 58 FT ballhead and the FLM Power Release System from B&H to keep my equipment safe in the future.i love this lens.

Problems Encountered: lens mount broke (my fault). sent to sigma and repaired.

Previous Equivalent Items Owned: Olympus 40 - 150mm

Items I Recommend: olympus EX-25, olympus TC-14/TC-20. a good ballhead.
