This accessory is a necessity if you will be using your digital SLR tethered (for example when using a camera stand for dedicated macro work). It is a bit pricey and I am still irritated that each Nikon camera requires a different AC adapter combo, but it works! I have been trying to find out if the new Nikon D5100 uses this same setup, but don't know for sure. The D3100 does NOT use this EP-5 power connector.

Easily fits inside the d5000 camera body. Camera gets power, works the same as if I had a rechargeable battery inside. Does its job. Must use the EH-5 power supply in tangent with this, and can get pricy, but stable equipment.

I use this product everyday at work...does what it is suppose to. Just would have been nice to know that I needed this part to use EH-5A AC Adapter with the d5000. I had to wait an extra 5 day before i could use it.

I use this to power a D5000 in Live View mode for a few hours on a tripod which is part of an automated photo-station setup. It works perfectly.

Just pop this in where your battery goes, and then connect it to the EH-5A. There's a little plug that pulls down so the cord can exit.
You need this adapter if you want to use the AC power unit EH-5A.
No more cycling through batteries and worring about ruining an extended exposure with my astrophotography!
Highly recomended. The product almost pays for itself when you consider the cost for 3 batteries and all the headaches!
