The Zeiss 50mm f/2 ZF Makro-Planar T* Manual Focus Lens is a fast 50mm macro lens that provides up to half life-size images. Living up to its reputation, this Zeiss macro lens offers exceptional high resolution and image quality over the entire focusing range, from infinity to close-focus. This lens serves double-duty. It is the ideal close-up lens for the exacting 35mm SLR photographer who doesn't mind using a manual focus lens and is a superior "standard" lens when mounted on a full-frame SLR - not a bad choice for rounding out your lens arsenal.
This manual focus ZF lens (for F bayonet mount cameras) is equipped with the AI aperture coupling as well as the non AI coupling. It does not include CPU coupling. Due to this, exposure metering and control is possible with all corresponding camera models. Used with camera models without AI or fork coupling the aperture is closed to the pre-selected value, but metering and automatic aperture control are not possible.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 50mm f/2 ZFManual Focus Lens:
My lens collection for my Nikon D700 didn't include a 50mm prime lens. This Zeiss Macro 50mm f/2 goes above and beyond my expectations. It is super fast, the images are razor sharp, the colors are stunning, and the bokeh is superb!
I shoot primarily nature and still life. Manual mode is standard for me so this lens fits my shooting style. The Zeiss lenses put my Nikkor lenses to shame and I love my Nikkor lenses.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 50mm f/2 ZFManual Focus Lens:
Highly recommended lens, must for any Pro photographer, High contrast & sharp Lens, it's a little bit tricky from the beginning to get use to manual focus, but you get better with the experience, using with Fuji s5/d700.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 50mm f/2 ZFManual Focus Lens:
I have now had this lens for nearly three years, and have used it so much that the edges are wearing back to silver. That is how much I use this lens.
Colour and contrast are fantastic. Sharpness is superb.
On a D2x, it rendered greens and blues in a way the Nikkor lens just couldn't. On a D3 it rendered the bokeh to make any Nikkor weep. On a D3x, the highly praised (and rightly so) 2.8/24-70mm cannot even come close to it's sharpness.
If I were allowed one lens, and only one lens to take around with me, this would be it. It has not only proven itself every time, it has far surpassed expectation each and every time it attaches to any camera.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 50mm f/2 ZFManual Focus Lens:
I use it as an general use lens on my Nikon D700. I have bought other lenses after this one - but i keep preferring it to all the others. Sharpness, contrast, colors, everything about it is just great! MF on the D700, is so easy that i hardly ever miss a shot. It was not a problem on the D300 either.

Comments about Zeiss Makro-Planar T* 50mm f/2 ZFManual Focus Lens:
It tested sharper than the Zeiss ZF 50mm 1.4, which was sharper than my Canon 50mm 1.4. It also has very little vignetting and chromatic aberration. I plan to use it on my Canon 5D for stitching landscape photos.
