I can go cheaper and get away with Mini DV tape for 1/3 the cost on my Canon XH-A1 1080i for regular clips such as boys in the scorer field or family trip to Six Flags, but Sony Mini DV HD Video tape definitely worth the money for max protection and peace of mind for my documentary files. The time and energy we spend on planning these shots is worth at least few thousands times more than the tape, so why let a tape be the potential drain clog ruining everything? Our philosophy is: money is NOT everything, peace of mind and insurability worth the extra dollars.

I was having problems with skips on DV tapes when using 1080i recordings. So I decided to do what the manual said and use HDV tapes. Well, what do you know, I have the same problem with the HDV tapes. So, is the problem with the tapes or the camera. It's hard to say but my belief is that it's the tapes since the occurences appear at random points on the tapes, which would indicate that it's not a problem with buffering as the camera compresses the signal.

I have only used the 1 of 3 of the tapes so far and ended up with two areas in my recording with dropped frames. I expected better from tapes at this price point. Hopefully the other tapes are ok.

With the standard miniDV tapes I would occasionally get drop outs. I have not had any since using these tapes!

We use the cassettes to tape our TV programs that we send to the TV stations. They are very satisfied with them.
We talked with a saleman at B&H and he was a great help. The cassettes arrived earlier that we expected.

Reliable every time, these tapes record quality! Though hdv tapes seem to be slowly receding from the market as flash drives take over, Sony is thankfully still putting out this great product.

I've been using this type tape for several years. I've had no problems. When the camera makes it go round and round, it does that. Drop outs, not an issue. Price is less than the tapes I had before, and we don't see a difference.

These tapes come at a cost, but with that cost comes the convenience of consistent and clean recording - even when recorded over multiple times. Picture quality is sharp and color is great when viewed on 40" LCD TV. These have become my standard go-to tapes!

I uses these to shoot professional videos for a Governemtn Access channel and for commercial production on ads. Rarely is a frame lost and I have never had a tape problem. Three pack is extremely affordable compared to buying individually at local supplier. Highly recommend.

You really can't go wrong with these tapes. I have used them for about a year in my Sony camcorder, and have had no problems at all. They seem to run more smoothly then other tapes that I have tried. And a good value at B&H.
