This bag is the perfect size for one bag to tour NYC. It handles the DSLR, Lens, Flash plus space in back for a laptop (for those Wi-Fi stops at Starbucks)! The rain cover was a special bonus.

When I first got the bag I noticed two things one is it is fairly heavy and two is it isn't as big as I expected. The bag is very comfortable and built to last. I can easily get to all of my gear. I highly recommend this bag.

Comments about Kata R-101 GDC Rucksack - for D-SLR Camera with Lens Attached and Accessories or Mini DC Camcorder with Accessories:
I bought this product to use on photo-shoots with my camera club. Mostly this will be good when I want to take almost everything and where a shoulder bag would be too heavy for me to carry all day. Being a woman I also like to carry personal things like my wallet, comb and keys in one bag and the Kata R-101 allows me to do that.
I was surprised at how well the Rucksack-101 by Kata is made. It protects my equipment in the desert's hot sun and places like rocky areas as well. It's a well protected bag, made like armor. Actually for the smallest Rucksack it holds quite a lot. I can fit my Nikon D90 with 18-105 mm. lens and my Nikkor 70-300mm. lens. If you had two regular or small lenses they would fit too along with a speedlight and many accessories. Inside there are 2 zippered compartments, one for filters, cables and such and another which is more 3 dimensional around the entire edge of the bag. There are 2 outside pockets large enough to hold extra batteries, a Hoodman or a right angle finder. It fits comfortably and there is a chest strap to secure it all. I like the camera straps that hang from the front straps of the Rucksack. Takes the strain off carrying a camera around your neck and shoulders all day.
I don't have a laptop computer but chose this model because I like to carry my manual and guide book and it fits perfectly in that space. You could also use it for lunch, snacks or a light windbreaker. I like the 3 netted bags that are included. One contains the sun/rain protection. The other two are used for keeping small items together and they attach via velcro to the inside of the bag. There are also many loops on the exterior sides of the bag, great for attaching extra items to the rucksack. One of the nicest things about the bag in that you don't have to open the entire bag to get the camera out. There is a small U-shaped section that you can open and take out the camera and reach in to get a filter. It's certainly a well thought-out bag.
I was missing the tripod pouch and strap and wrote to Kata's customer service department. They are sending it to me. They said to be sure and let them know when I receive it, which made me feel that they are on top of things.
All in all I think this is a great little bag. The Kata website has more information and videos about how to use all their different features.

I searched for months before finding this Kata backpack and the wait was worth it. The construction is solid, the yellow interior makes it easy to find stuff, the amount of space in this compact bag is amazing. I am able to fit my Canon 20D, 3 lenses, filters, cables, flash, and a laptop! I'm very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to others.
