The 1 TB My Book World Edition II External Ethernet Hard Drive from Western Digital is a high-capacity drive with an interface that allows it to be connected via Ethernet and a rotation speed of 7200 rpm. In addition to providing simple network storage, the drive can serve as a network server for a USB 2.0 storage device. The drive itself can be configured as a RAID 0 for maximum storage and performance or RAID 1 for dedicated data mirroring.

The drive is easily integrated into your network, making it easy to share files among users. You can even integrate it into your wireless network by plugging it into your wireless access point or router. These features make it an excellent solution for data backup or general storage in small networks.

• Remote Internet Data Access: The My Book World Edition includes WD Anywhere Access software for Windows. This software works with the free online Data OnHand service provided to facilitate remote data access. Connect the drive to your home Internet router and you'll be able to access your files from the office or while traveling via a secure, encrypted connection.

• My Book Design: The drive is housed in an elegant design that can, at first glance, be mistaken for that of a hardbound book. This makes the drive an excellent choice for anyone who would like to have a unique and classy drive to use for external data storage. The drive features a built-in power-saving feature, has no environmental contaminants and ships in recyclable packaging, making it as friendly to the environment as it is to your data.

• RAID Flexibility: The My Book features two internal 500 GB hard drives in an attractive external network enclosure. It can be configured as a RAID 0 for full 1 TB storage capacity and maximum performance. The drive can also be configured as RAID 1, which halves the storage capacity to 500 GB but provides a dedicated real-time backup by mirroring data on both internal drives.

• 1 TB Capacity: 1 TB of capacity allows for storage of approximately 75 hours of uncompressed DV digital video, the equivalent of 212 4.7 GB DVD video discs or up to 250,000 MP3 files.

• USB 2.0 Storage Expansion: The My Book features a USB 2.0 port that allows you to connect an external hard drive or storage device. This port allows you to connect an additional hard drive for storage expansion. It is also compatible with USB mass storage devices, such as flash drives.

• Ethernet Interface: The standard Ethernet interface allows users to access data and administrators to administer the drive remotely through a standard LAN connection, making it easy to add to your existing network infrastructure. The drive can be connected to a wireless network by connecting it to a wireless access point, router, or bridge.
