This camcorder comes with a variety of features, including 10x optical zoom, O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilization), 16:9 widescreen capability, a USB 2.0 interface, and Dolby Digital 5.1 audio. In addition, this camcorder features a 40GB hard drive, so you can download directly to your favorite video software, without the hassle of tapes.

• ClearVid CMOS Sensor: The 1/2.9" ClearVid CMOS sensor allows more light to reach the imager, which reduces video noise to improve signal-to-noise ratio. This is a 16:9 native sensor, this means there is no loss of quality when you record and view video in 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio.

• 40GB hard drive: If you need to store images that you shoot with your camcorder, look no further. This camcorder comes with a 40GB hard drive.

• Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS): While a digital image stabilizer compensates for shaking by adjusting the picture frame by frame, an Optical Image Stabilizer (OIS) avoids the shaking before the image is captured. OIS uses a floating lens element that is moved relative to the rest of the lens, to maintain a balanced picture

• 2.7-Inch SwivelScreen Touch Panel LCD Screen: With the touch panel monitor, you no longer need worry about using a joystick or mess of buttons to access in-camera features and effects. The 2.7" LCD Monitor is also large enough to allow you to switch between 16:9 and 4:3 modes when watching your videos in playback.

• Digital Still Memory Mode: The camcorder's still mode captures high quality still images at 2304 x 1728 resolution directly to a Memory Stick Duo memory stick. Images are stored in the JPEG format providing easy transfer to PCs for emailing, printing, or sharing with family and friends.

• Active Interface Shoe: This hot shoe gives you the option of adding accessories such as lights, flashes, and microphones to the camcorder. These accessories can also communicate and draw power from the camcorder through the Active Interface Shoe.

• Smooth, Slow Recording: Create your own instant playback footage easily and efficiently by increasing the record rate from 60 fps to 240 fps for 3 seconds. This allows you to record 3 seconds of footage that will play back over a 12 second span.

Add your own color commentary to accompany the footage and you're on your way to that sports analyst job of your dreams.

• Professional Quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar Lens: Zeiss lenses use an advanced optical multi-layer coating that offers less glare and flare with increased contrast. This results in vivid image brilliance, true-to-life color saturation and perfect renditions of subtle tones. The additional T coating on the lens further reduces unwanted glare and flare.

• 80x zoom: If you need to get up close from a far distance, this camcorder comes with an 80x digital zoom. Record the finest details from even the farthest locations.

• 16:9 widescreen capability: Shoot wide screen or panoramic footage. This camera supports 16:9 widescreen format. Shoot breathtaking vistas and full family photos, all at the touch of a button.

• Dolby Digital 5.1 audio: Record audio in 5.1 surround sound. Using this camcorder's built-in microphone, you can record Dolby Digital 5.1 audio.

• HDD Smart Protection Technology: The HDD Smart Protection is a series of built-in technologies consisting of shock absorbers, the 3G Sensor, and buffered memory. The shock absorbers insulate the recording device, displacing any impact the chassis might experience during operation. The 3G sensor detects differences in acceleration and orientation and will momentarily shut off the recording platters if conditions are too turbulent. When the 3G sensor is in use, footage is momentarily recorded to buffered memory until conditions are safe. This buffered memory can be recorded for up to 14 seconds at one time.

• Touch and Burn: Easily burn DVDs with the Touch DVD Burn system; simply connect your camcorder to a PC with the Handycam Station and press the one touch burn button.

• DVDirect Compatible: Your camcorder allows you to connect directly to the DVDirect DVD recorder. This ingenious NTSC/PAL-compatible recorder has undeniably useful functionality, including its 2" color LCD preview screen. You can connect a PictBridge printer directly to the burner, allowing you to print photos from disc. The burner also lets you connect memory sticks to the burner for a real time photo slideshow or DVD recording. Readable discs include DVD+R DL, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R DL, DVD-R, DVD-RW, CD-R, and CD-RW.
