I bought these batteries and charger when I bought my Canon Powershot. From the beginning, I noticed that either the batteries, the charger, or the camera must be off because when I had fully charged the batteries, the camera would show a blinking red low battery light. At first, it appeared to be a problem with the camera, since it showed the low battery sign when batteries had been fully charged and somehow I was able to take pictures. It was always a mess though - very quickly, the camera would shut down and I wasn't able to take any pictures. After months of bungling along this way, I borrowed a friends rapid battery charger and batteries and 'lo and behold - my camera didn't fuss at all and I got hours and hours of shooting pictures without hassle. I've since tried charging the batteries on a different charger and they are still a problem. (Same with charging a friends' batteries on my charger - doesn't work even when indicated that they are compatible.)
So, the conclusion I come to is that it must be the batteries and the charger that's been messed up from the very beginning (even though I followed all the instructions) and not the battery gage on the camera since the camera works well with rechargeable batteries from other people.
