The Gitzo GT2530LVL Leveling 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod uses advanced "Carbon 6X" carbon fiber material for its leg construction. This improved tubing is stronger, lighter and as resistant as its 12 layer predecessor. Carbon "6X" is manufactured using a complex, 3-D process weaving 6 layers of carbon fiber into smooth, solid constructed tubes.
This Leveling tripod has a ball joint-mounted center column designed to let you get your camera perfectly level simply by adjusting the column inclination instead of having to set each leg individually.
The GT2530LVL is a remarkably rigid 3 leg-section tripod that is capable of holding most camcorders, 35mm and medium format gear, and even most lighter field 4x5 cameras.

Comments about Gitzo GT2530LVL Leveling 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
I use this in place of my heavier Gitzo 1325 (with Wimberly) with a Mongoose 3.5 for support of D2xs and Nikon 200-400, or 500 f/4 P, or 500 VR. Great weight reduction for long walks. Leveler is handy. Very satisfactory, and with good long lense technique, tack sharp images result. Plenty sturdy for the above lenses.

Comments about Gitzo GT2530LVL Leveling 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
I use this tripod with a Really Right Stuff [BH-40] ball head and my Nikon D300. Super fast setup and break down and solid as a mountain. Very light weight so I don't mind carrying it into the field. I have always used Bogen-Manfrotto gear before, but the Gitzo line is the best. The center column allows for leveling on the fly which is great for uneven terrain. Nothing negative to report about this tripod.

Comments about Gitzo GT2530LVL Leveling 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs:
I've had this tripod for about two months now. I chose it to match an Arca-Swiss MONOBALL Z1 head.
Some the thoughts that went into buying this:
I wanted a tripod with a leveling column to give me flexibility on sloping or uneven surfaces.
I wanted a tripod that would support all my camera and lens combinations with excess capacity to spare, yet was not exceptionally bulky or heavy. My heaviest lens is the Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 L IS; I also use the Canon 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS. It is unlikely that I will migrate to anything larger and heavier than these for a very long time, so I felt that it was unnecessary to go for the heavier but somewhat sturdier 3530 series. As I carry my tripod on lengthy hikes, the weight saving makes a difference.
Having bought it, I have found it to be completely satisfactory. It is rock solid for my purposes, extremely easy and flexible to use, so much so that it almost becomes invisible when I am using it. Consequently, I find myself using this tripod a great deal; and that is beneficial to my photography. I would use lesser quality tripods with reluctance - this one is a joy to work with.
It's expensive, yes. I debated whether a cheaper alternative would have sufficed, but it does everything I ask of it and I have no cause for dissatisfaction. The workmanship is outstanding, the materials hardy.
