The Gitzo GB0540 Three-Section Carbon Fiber Boompole is a lightweight boom microphone pole suitable to mount shotgun microphones, stereo microphones, etc. The GB0530 is designed for maximum comfort and reliable use on location or in studio, with a carbon fiber, 6x cross-layered tube providing maximum strength while remaining lightweight. The G-Lock mechanism is responsive to weight. the higher the load applied vertically to the pole, the stronger the lock. The Gitzo GB0540 Boompole is a wise choice for film, broadcast, video and more.

The carbon fiber tubes make for a lightweight fishpole for extending a mike. But the tubes also conduct a fair amount of handling noise to the microphone, more than my older (and heavier) Gitzo aluminum fishpoles. The reversible thread at the tip makes for wider compatibility with mike and camera holders.

Strong, light & basic. Everything one needs in a boom pole. While it would be nice to have an internal cord... is it really worth a couple hundred bucks to put some gaffer tape on the pole?

It's very lightweight and easy to hold for long durations which makes it truly invaluable. The G-Lock system is excellent for locking down a certain height and I don't think I could have made a better purchase for the type of work I do.
