The MPD24 from Akai is a velocity-sensitive, pad controller for musicians and DJs, modeled after the extremely popular MPC series of drum samplers. Long coveted for the rhythm musicality inherent in the MPC series, the MPD24 allows for expressive and intuitive programming of percussion and rhythm material, without the expense of having to buy a full blown sampler.
The controller includes sixteen MPC-style velocity and pressure sensitive pads, four selectable pad banks for a total of sixty-four playable pads, six assignable faders and eight assignable, 360° knobs for transmitting MIDI Control Change data. Also featured are transport controls for interfacing with DAW/sequencing applications.
A fully reprogrammable controller, the MPD24 is a malleable and multi-functional tool that fits perfectly within any production or performance environment. A special edition of Fxpansion's BDF Lite provides material for the immediate creation of drum and percussion tracks. Applications include beat creation, MIDI sequencing and live performance.

Comments about Akai MPD24 Rhythm Controller:
definetly a great purchase. amazing value for the money. the knobs and faders are very precise, much better quality than most midi keyboards.
ive been using it with reason 4 and ableton live
and realy gives a whole new side to my creativity.
the only con is, if youve used an actual MPC before, you might have some trouble adjusting to the pads. they are not as sensative or soft, but considering the price its realy nothing to complain about. (besides you get used to them soon enough)
