Walkstool is a unique company making an even more unique and extremely useful product. The Walkstool Comfort 55 XL is born of fine Swedish engineering and provides a portable posterior platform - in other words, a seat for all occasions. Whereas a folding chair or stool is nothing new, this Walkstool's clever design makes it stand out from the rest. The two primary issues Walkstool's designers focused on were compact size and load strength and the final product reflects their careful engineering and dedication.
The primary benefit of the Walkstool is the prevention of back strain or fatigue while keeping a person elevated to a comfortable height. This is useful for sports, event, and press photographers who spend many hours on their feet, squatting or on their knees. It is also good for campers and other outdoor enthusiasts or simply anyone who needs a seat in a location where a comfortable chair may be hard to come by.
The Walkstool Comfort line features lightweight and ultra-portable stools with two height positions depending on whether the telescoping legs are extended or not. Transportation of these sub-two lbs stools is a breeze, as it collapses into a compact form that can be easily carried in a camera bag, backpack, or tool bag to be taken just about anywhere. The Comfort line improves on the Basic line with a larger seat, different size seat mesh material, and larger rubber feet to prevent the stool legs from getting stuck in the mud.

I have back and knee problems that make standing and walking long distances very difficult. We planned a trip to NYC for Thanksgiving. I was not looking forward to this trip, because I feared that I would not be able to participate in many of the planned activities such as watching the famous Macy's parade and long hours of shopping. A week before my trip, I was looking for something on-line that might help and found this stool. After reading all the positive reviews I thought it might just work. Boy was I ever glad I made this purchase! It is extremely lightweight to carry. I carried it like a backpack and at a moment's notice could set it up and take a breather. I was able to watch the parade and I didn't take up any more space than if I was standing! I had so many people interested in my stool. I was constantly showing it off!! It took up very little space in my suitcase and I could use it anywhere. I will never take another vacation without it!!! It's extremely comfortable and very sturdy feeling. I never felt unstable sitting on it. I loved how compact the stool was when not in use. I honestly can't think of anything negative about this walkstool. I would highly recommend this stool to anyone who has trouble standing or walking! I even had a police officer tell me it was the best idea she had ever seen when you needed a quick place to sit and seating was hard to find. Love, Love, Love!!!! this stool.

I am a photographer...I plan to use the stool for posing in my very small studio, and have taken it along to a wedding to seat the bride and not soil her dress. The stool of course doesn't even show.I like the way it folds up and totes in it's own little bag, and it is quite comfortable.
The only negative is the claim that it can be used in 2 positions (with legs extended and with legs slid in). I could not possible sit on this stool without have the legs out...there is nothing but a little stump to balance on...perhaps a much younger person could use that feature but.....

Comments about Walkstool Comfort 55 X-Large Folding Stool:
Seat is uncomfortable and legs are kind of cheesy. They do not telescope smoothly - in fact they make an annoying scraping sound. I'm bringing mine back.

Comments about Walkstool Comfort 55 X-Large Folding Stool:
Used for birdwatching, in tropical rainforest, where patience is required. This fits the bill as it's light and rather comfortable to sit on.
A couple of caveats to be noted, feels a bit flimsy at first, extend the legs slowly or they might come out altogether. When setting it up on sloping ground, the chair can be a bit unstable (it's a rather small tripod), so, be aware of your centre of gravity and make sure you don't go tumbling down the hill.

Comments about Walkstool Comfort 55 X-Large Folding Stool:
I use my Walkstool primarily for sports photography. The stool enables me to get in a better, more comfortable position. I've noticed that my keeper rate has gone up due to my improved technique. The only design improvement I could think of is for the manufacturer to add another lock button at the bottom of each leg that would lock the legs for transportation. Other than that, it's a quality piece of equipment.

Comments about Walkstool Comfort 55 X-Large Folding Stool:
We recently purchased two of the XL folding Walkstools while preparing for a cruise with extensive on shore tours. My husband is XL, as well, (+300 lbs) and we both find this stool to be sturdy and comfortable with a height from which we can easily sit and stand up again. Additionally, it is light weight and will be conveniently stowed in back packs while we are on tours until needed.

Comments about Walkstool Comfort 55 X-Large Folding Stool:
This is a very comfortable, very compact, very lightweight stool. Based on other people's suggestions, I didn't know whether to go with the Large or Extra-Large stool. I am by no means a big person, and either stool would have worked fine, but I settled on the XL size for the following reasons:
1. The size between large and extra-large when compact is negligible. They are only an inch or so different.
2. When sitting with a tripod/monopod, I like the extra height of the XL stool. Shooting sports from a sideline, I don't like being below my targets. This stool puts we at the height I wanted.
I have other stool/chairs from other places (camping specialists), but the transportability of this stool beats them hands down. Note: supposedly you can sit in this stool without extending the legs. Nonsense. Yeah, maybe you can attempt it, but you would need excellent balance. It just isn't made for that use.

I am using this for birding, sitting in comfort while waiting and then quickly and easily moving to a new location. It's in no way similar to an armchair but that turns out to be an asset in that it allows for quick movement.

We have owned this stool for awhile and just bought another - it is light weight, comes with a carrying bag so that you can carry it everywhere over your shoulder comfortably....everything about this "seat when you need one" is perfect! The summer parades are coming - can you imagine carrying this instead of bulky chairs...and, it's comfortable - much more comfortable than the 4-legged models - it folds quickly and will make you happy as can be!

Comments about Walkstool Comfort 55 X-Large Folding Stool:
I'm a mostly garden photographer, which means that I'm outdoors and, either crawling around on the ground, or squatting. However, I originally purchased the 55 X-Large Folding Walkstool for my husband. He no longer tolerates standing for hours at a time so I set out to find him a sturdy, yet light weight, portable sit-stool. Unfortunately, most of the ones I found were either too heavy or not adjustable, so I turned to BH Photo for better alternatives.
We've had the 55 X-Large Folding Walkstool for a couple of weeks and I love this thing. Sure, I happily share it with my husband, but I now keep this device with my photo gear. It's easy to carry and well built. I don't even notice that I'm carrying an extra piece of equipment. And when my husband uses it, the Walkstool's small, collapsed size is so discrete that we don't feel like we're dragging lawn furniture to a social function. It's also comfortable to sit on for long periods and the extended position is well balanced. The lower one is a little wobbly until you get accustomed to it but it keeps your bottom off damp ground when you have to shoot low. I would certainly recommend this item to a photographer colleague or a friend.

Many photographers will use this as a light weight blind chair, I use it as much for stabilizing the shot as well. It is very strong, it is very light, it is beautifully engineered. It is an incredible value for the price. My only regret is that I didn't buy one sooner.

A great product for photographic field trips. It sure beats standing up for hours or lugging a chair on a photo field trip. The Walkstool is light for easy transport and surprisingly comfortable. If it had a locking mechanism in the open position, I would have given it 5 stars.

It is difficult to believe that something so light weight and easy to carry can support almost 500 pounds, but since I tip the scales in the neighborhood of 300, and can't even get a squeak or a groam out of this stool, I have no reason to doubt it. A first-class piece of work!
