We use the D-lites mainly for outside studio (on location) photography. For this purpose they work great, easy to travel with, fast to hook up and adds a nice documentary style touch to the workflow. The minus with this would be that they are not really built to travel with and they have a plastic feel to them, so you need to be careful out in the field. Another great thing is that all of Elinchroms accesories will fit, but then again, they might be to weak and to plastic to really handle the weight of some bigger softboxes.
Overall, it´s a great kit with good lightstands and easy to learn flash photography for the beginner, but maybe not enough for the more experienced studio photographer.

Comments about Elinchrom D-Lite4 Two Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
I use these lights as part of a portable studio and they are incredibly simple to use. I was able to get great results after a few tries with just a few tests without a light meter. I have been studying light since I first picked up a DSLR years ago and these are like having a little ball of sunshine at your disposal.
I use it wired to my D700 while triggering the second strobe via wireless which is built into the units.
I recommend these for anyone who is interested in a great entry level light system. I should mention that I plan on getting many years of use from these.

Comments about Elinchrom D-Lite4 Two Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
Pretty well packaged, compact, portable and light. Easy to use right out of the box, including the set up of the softboxes (which surprised me). [...] the modeling lamp blew out only after a few days [...] All in all, despite these 2 setbacks, I am quite pleased with them and as a very amateur photographer looking to set up a small home studio these will come in quite handy.

Comments about Elinchrom D-Lite4 Two Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
Well I can honestly say this is my first set of monolights I brought just for on the go shooting. These little guys are indeed very handy and portable. The light quality is very good. I took off 1 star for two reasons. 1st the softboxes were a pain in the but to set up. 2nd the active cooling fans while usefull are like having a dust buster running while shooting.

Comments about Elinchrom D-Lite4 Two Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
I purchased this product for portability and small product photography. Prior to this purchase I have owned the Patterson Interfit series of the same power range.
The Good:
- Fairly consistent results right out of the box
- Minimal set-up
- Easy to work controls
- Long length sync cords
- Quality stands
- Lightweight units for easy transport
- Quality mounting hardware that keeps the head and softbox positioned precisely
The Bad:
- Separate carrying case for lights and softboxes
- No cases for stands, just boxes
- The softboxes are really, really small
Comparison (D-Lite / Paterson Interfit):
While the Interfit units were a lot heavier and felt better made, that simply did not translate into more consistent lighting. Plus, the heavier Interfit units used substandard mounting hardware that did not keep the heads where they needed to be. Interfit did send replacement hardware, after a knob snapped off, but it was of the same poor quality. The hardware that comes with the Elinchrom units are perfect for the items that come in the kit. However; I'm not 100% certain they would work with much larger softboxes.
The Interfit units did provide much larger softboxes for the same price, but they did not lock on as well as the units from Elinchrom. The velcro on the Interfit series started to tear from its stitching only after a few set-ups. The elinchrom softbox material looks to be extremely well made.
The stands from both companies appear to be very similar. Neight would support horizontal armatures; however, both are easily transported.

Comments about Elinchrom D-Lite4 Two Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
I use the product for my studio in my house. I am suprise how simple it is to put together plus the learning video that came with helped a lot. It came with a nice carry on bag. The only thing I noticed that could have been better is the body of the light itself. It is made of plastic that do not feel sturdy but again for the price and overall quality, I am pretty happy.

Comments about Elinchrom D-Lite4 Two Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
D-Lite 4 kit contains everything to get off-camera lighting up, running and producing well-lit photographs quickly. Packaging good--setup was fast and easy. Had to refer to instructions a couple of times mainly because of inexperience with softbox assembly. Just for the experience, I broke everything down and reloaded into cases. Everything stores away for travel as advertised. Well thought out system. Nice job Elinchrom.
One thing I missed during setup, (which led to a some confusion) is that two (2) flash synch cables are provided and the camera has one synch cable output on it. The manual did not make it clear that the stobe attached to the synch cable can (and does!) automatically trigger the second light to fire through existing infared communication capaiblities.
Lighting system has been used indoors only at this point. Modeling lights, (constant 'on' to help aim the lights) are extremely helpful for me as a beginner to off-camera lighting. Amount of available flash power is huge. Indoors, they are being used at the extreme lower-end of available flash power leading me to believe they'll have plenty of power to perform well outdoors.
Happy with purchase. Would definitely recommend to those just starting out with portrait or product lighting.

I consider the Elinchrom D-Lite4 Two Monolight Kit to be a great set for starting kind of proffesional maybe with a little studio. The truth is i've had the product just for 2 weeks so i can't say to much. The lights are very easy to use, easy to transport and the price isn't bad at all. For now i have only used it indoors and they have worked really good. I hope to give a more expanded review later on when i have used them more.

Comments about Elinchrom D-Lite4 Two Monolight Kit (90-260VAC):
I purchased this product to use in conjunction with a backdrop for portable portrait setups. The kit comes with awesome travel bags, the recycle times on the lights are quick, and the fan-cooled heads let you shoot all day. As a note, these lights sync @ 1/200 of a second, and not 1/250 as others might. I like that the lights are compatible with all the Elinchrom modifiers, though I do wish reflectors were included.

I use one D-Lite inside a Lastolite Hilite background and the other with the larger soft box attached to light my subject. I have used it mainly in a home studio and once at an outside event. Easy set up and tear down.

Nice lights, and the perform well, have nice softboxes and stands, but the lights themselves feel a little
"plasti-icky". Not that it effects quality, but it doesnt give the RollsRoyce overbuilt feel.

With 400w and proportional modeling lights, plus the great Elinchrom reputation, this is perhaps the best bang for the buck in its price range. The kit is easy to assemble, though the soft boxes are a little tricky to put together.
