Home & Student edition includes word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software. Like all upgrades from this vendor, it's somewhat familiar but there are differences that require a learning period before becoming proficient.
One feature I particularly dislike: file saving and some other functions for the word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software have been moved to an all-purpose "office" button at the upper left - a bulge on the window. When I first tried making a presentation slide, I couldn't figure out how to save it except by using the old standard DOS keystrokes - Control-S.
A sixty-day trial of this software was loaded on the computer when purchased. Purchasing the software after the extension is easier and less costly than purchasing it separately, but that information wasn't included in the product description for the computer purchase.
This software was okay, but the changes from the previous version were not necessarily improvements (see above re file saving).

I use this product for my personal laptop.
Office 2007 has huge change from previous series.
Things that we have to care is format, to share files, we have to select format for 2003 or earlier.
Tabs are hard to understand why this version have to change so much.
MS need to give us a choice for classic view like control panel.
The only advantage is newer.
time has change.

The only reason I did not give my purchase five stars is that it ("Office" Home and Student) does not include the Communication and Database elements. Otherwise it is fine.
Easy purchase and the best price out there.

Easy to use Word software. Have not had a chance to really try out Excel and PowerPoint yet. All in all, 3 very useful programs for home and office use. If you decide to buy, I definitely recommend buying it from B&H. Best price, great service! Thank you B&H!

Bought this to load on two new laptops we recently purchased. Setup was easy and problem free. Love the fact that we can still use it for one more system in the future. Also glad that it comes with the free upgrade to 2010.

Comments about Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 for Windows:
Home and student contains several useful programs. I purchased a new computer and determined it was cheaper to install word processing my self. I mostly use word and outlook and excel. The least expensive way to do this was buy Home and Student and buy outlook separately. [...] It installed and was registered with microsoft. It is what it is. I am a microsoft - pc user. I find this works well for my purposes. This program had what I wanted. It is microsoft office programs. If you like MS word, it is great. I find Outlook to be very useful. It does what it is supposed to do and does that well.

Microsoft 2007 is not nearly as user-friendly as previous versions. The toolbar is confusing and I dislike having to hunt for simple editing tasks. Wish I had not purchased it.

Comments about Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 for Windows:
We bought two laptops to replace an old desktop with office 2003. The laptops were loaded with trial version. We liked it and needed it. When it arrived from B&H PHOTO we simply entered the product key and registered at Microsoft. This product can be loaded on three different computers which will come in handy when the wife's new mini netbook arrives. We are in a steep learning curve with the hundreds of new features, but it's fairly intuitive. We could not be more pleased with this product and already looking forward to office 2010.

Software is great. Updated and offers many new options, although some of the additional features are hidden and it takes effort to work out the details.

Comments about Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 for Windows:
I had the older version of Microsoft Office on my work computer so this newer version was unfamiliar to me at first. However, it was easy to adapt to and the features are easier to use and more intuitive. It didn't include Microsoft Picture that I used on my other computer to edit pictures and I was disappointed by that but the programs it does include (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) are great. This version also crashes far less often than the old version (well, it hasn't crashed yet anyways- which is more than I can say for the older version). It was also very easy and quick to install.
