The VAIO UX Series VGN-UX390N Micro Computer from Sony is a tiny, ultra-portable computer designed for the mobile professional. The computer features a widescreen, touchscreen LCD that can be viewed in either landscape or portrait mode. The computer can rest in the palm of your hand, allowing you to use the included stylus to input information via the touchscreen interface, or you can side the screen up to reveal a QWERTY keyboard that allows you to hold the PC in both hands as you type.
Wireless connectivity is a must with a truly mobile PC. The VAIO UX features 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi to connect to all standard wireless networks and hotspots. Bluetooth support is also integrated into the device, allowing you to interface with your wireless Bluetooth devices. Users of the Cingular Wireless EDGE Network will also appreciate the integrated support for that service.
The VAIO comes with software such as Microsoft Streets & Trips and Microsoft Works for productivity. Also included is a biometric fingerprint reader and corresponding software to store your passwords. This allows you to enter a password simply by placing your finger on the reader.
The system is powered by a 1.33 GHz Intel Core Solo U1500 CPU and boasts 1 GB of RAM, a 32 GB NAND hard drive, wireless Ethernet, Bluetooth and an 4.5" Widescreen/Touchscreen display powered by Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950 graphics. Windows Vista Business Edition is the platform that ties all this hardware and software together, giving you a great ultra-portable computer for the mobile professional backed by the Sony name.

- The Intel Core Solo Processor U1500 CPU is based on an extremely low-voltage architecture designed specifically for ultra-portable computing. This processor delivers a balanced level of mobile processor technology and exceptional value in this Micro PC.
- Windows Vista Business
- The computer comes preloaded with the Windows Vista Business operating system from Microsoft. Vista includes the slick Aero user interface, complete with the Windows Sidebar, gadget support, Flip3D navigation and more. The Business edition of Vista includes advanced networking tools, remote desktop support and backup features.
- Ultra-Portable Design
- The computer is in an ultra-portable form factor, featuring a compact 4.5" Widescreen display in a hand-held design. The computer weighs less than 1.5 pounds, letting you easily take it with you wherever you go. The computer features a flash-memory based NAND hard drive. This storage device is similar to a digital camera memory card; it has no moving parts, allowing it to use much less energy than a traditional hard disk without any sacrifice in performance.
- Widescreen and Touchscreen Display
- The laptop has a 4.5" widescreen display that features a 1024 x 600 resolution that lets you work with comfort. The display can operate in landscape or portrait mode, adapting to your preferences. A stylus is included to allow you to take advantage of the touchscreen capability.
- Integrated Digital Cameras and Microphone
- The VAIO UX features two integrated digital cameras. The front camera, which features a 0.3 MP resolution, is perfect for video conferencing when used in conjunction with the integrated microphone. The back camera features a 1.3 MP resolution and can be used to take snapshots.
- Internet Access
- You'll be able to connect to wireless hotspots and networks using the integrated 802.11a/b/g technology. Additionally, a Cingular SIM card is included, allowing you to use the computer on the Cingular Wireless National EDGE network. A paid subscription to this network is required to obtain this functionality.
- Port Replicator
- The included port replicator lets you "dock" your VAIO UX and use it as normal computer. The port replicator features USB, FireWire, Ethernet, VGA and A/V outputs, allowing you to easily convert your ultra portable Micro PC into a fully-functional desktop computer.
- Virus Protection
- The included Norton Internet Security 2007 software comes with a 60-day subscription to help you protect your computer from malicious software such as viruses and spyware. This helps to protect your computer when you are browsing the web or reading e-mail.
