Comments about JVC CU-VD40 Everio Share Station Direct DVD Burner:
I use this product to burn dvd's of my children. I really like the convenience of not having to use a computer and quickness. I burned a dvd and was watching it on my tv within 45min of opening the box. If you are having trouble getting dvd to play try a high definition dvd player. My camcorder records high def therefore need a high def dvd player. Great product and a great value.

Comments about JVC CU-VD40 Everio Share Station Direct DVD Burner:
I bought this item to burn home DVD's of my children. For me it is time efficient and does the job, very convenient. Will not play in standard DVD player but will play in playstation 3 so i assume plays in high definition dvd players. My camcorder records in high definition so not sure if that is why it won't play in my standard DVD player or if it is the share station but it plays fine in playstation. Next purchase may be a high def DVD player then I will know. :)

Comments about JVC CU-VD40 Everio Share Station Direct DVD Burner:
I purchased this item with the intention of burning DVDs that I could then play on my regular player. I have not been able to play them on my home player and I'm trying to figure out if it is a finalizing issue or if the resulting discs are formatted only for the CU-VD40. But at least I know I have archived the footage and I can now erase it from the hard drive. All in all, the burner is easy to use with the included instructions and the on-screen prompts. A bargain at [$]

The only thing i don't like about this item is how it is marketed. Very confusing. But it does archive your footage rather well. Not exactly time efficient, but useful if you are lacking a storage.

This is a product that intended to produce BACKUP copies of very space hungry hidef gz-hd7. It works perfect as advertised. Must say, that this one apparently has an updated firmware and works seamlessly. The first models I tried 3 years ago had media compatibility issues, but apparently all this was solved. For the price it is a steal!

Comments about JVC CU-VD40 Everio Share Station Direct DVD Burner:
I purchased this device as part of a "kit" with the JVC GZ-HD6 camcorder. HUGE disappointment...
Copying files out is SLOW... 20 minutes copy time for 20 minutes of video.
Burning a DVD results in "playable only with the included software", and INEFFICIENTLY. I made 10 "test" videos, total play time 26 minutes. This device required TWO blank 4.7 GB DVDs to save the videos. The first held 3.98 GB and the second one held 1.29 GB -- for only 26 minutes play time!
Burn time is approximately 1:1 (it took 24 minutes to burn 26 minutes of video).
Video quality is marginal at best.
DVDs do NOT play on a standard DVD player.
Maybe I am doing something wrong -- but after 8 days I still have no resolution from JVC nor from B&H regarding how to make a "real" DVD with this kit.
Also, the included CyberLink software creates a 290 MB MPEG for a 3 minute 8 second video! It is virtually impossible to create videos to post on the internet with this equipment -- files are too large for typical user.
Battery life is HORRIBLE -- about 30 minutes when using the 2100 "extra life" mAh battery.
