I bought this tripod for taking low shutters speed outdoor/nature photos as well as bracketted photos for HDR. I am using nikon d70s, and my heaviest lens is nikkor 80-200mm f/2.8ED. That two combined still weigh less than this tripod max load. I have been using it, even without shutter remote release, and still get sharp picture. In my opinion this tripod is the best in its class (up to 11lbs max load). I did long and careful research about all kind of tripod at this price and around 11lbs max load, this is suit my need best. I chose this over 055xb because my gear total with photo backpack not exceed 11 lbs so i still can use 190 xb, and 055xb weight 1 more pound/ i dont need extra load. I am 5'6 and 190xb total height is about the comfort level. If you are much taller, thus i assume bigger and stronger (to carry extra weight), then 055 series would be better as i would imagine 190 series will be too short and can be problem.

Manfrotto 190XB is a decent inexpensive tripod. Great for medium duty videography with small camera or DSLR.

Some minimal issues worth mentioning, but not a dealbreaker:
The center column binds when making fine adjustments. The flip locks are adjustable and tight, but feel kind of flimsy. And the legs have some flex when panning with a lot of drag.

I tried to mount an IGUS slider on it... NOT! Did I hear somebody say "get jiggy with it"! Maybe in a pinch with a gentle touch, but the legs just have too much flex for the span of a 36" slider.

Overall, I'm happy with it. Like I've said before,'when used as intended', I give it a thumbs up as an affordable option built by Manfrotto.

Comments about Manfrotto 190XB Tripod Legs (Black) - Supports 11 lbs (5 kg):

I use this tripod for travelling video with the heavy, Manfrotto 503HDV head and thankfully the 190XB is light for a metal tripod! The 190XB provides plenty of support for my fx DSLR with a 70-200 f2.8. I have to say that manfrotto has really hit the target on the snap, "quick-action" leg locks. Compared other, similar leg locks, the 190XB is the easiest to level out super-quick! Even when wearing heavy snow-gloves I am able to lock the legs in, adjust, and start shooting perfectly level shots in mere seconds. I gave 4 stars instead of 5 because in snow, the legs and elevating neck stick a little... for the price I would expect a little better coating (not a big deal).

This is the first tripod I have purchased. I love the sturdy construction and the ease and simplicity of use for a beginning photographer. The ergonomic of the leg-angle release and the quick action leg lock releases make it a gem to work with. I am using this tripod for stock photography. Even though I purchased a bag for this item...I loved the fact that it fit in my carry-on.

I gave my rating taking value into consideration. Nobody will mistake this for a $1K tripod and head set. That being said, if used cautiously and intelligently it is a quality set and a great deal for the money. It securely holds my D300s and 70-300mm. With all legs extended, there is a little flex but not bad. Weight is not bad either. For the money you can't go wrong!

I've been using it a lot but everytime, I had some difficulty to adjust a head horizontal. it doesn't move separately, you have to adjust by lowering or highering thie legs.

This is my first professional tripod and I was not disappointed... It is very sturdy and serves the purpose for all my studio needs. I especially like that it folds down close to the ground so I can use my macro lens. I would recommend this tripod for any photography enthusiast!

Comments about Manfrotto 190XB Tripod Legs (Black) - Supports 11 lbs (5 kg):

When I started doing some handheld HDR photography I quickly realized the importance of having a good tripod. After shopping around, this tripod seemed to fit my needs without breaking the bank.
It is very stable and legs are easily adjustable and holds my Canon T2i with a 18-105mm lens without problem.
Going on an extended hiking trip with this tripod might not be recommended due to its weight. It does the trick however for everyday armature use.

havent used it enough to give it 5-stars, but it is well on its way to earning it!
