Comments about Olympus DS-50 Digital Voice Recorder:
We use this for client focus groups and it' a great tool. The small size doesn't intimadate the interview participants. The sound quality is truly amazing and it's easy to transfer the audio files to a CD for client review. We use a minature tripod as a mounting place for the removable microphone for 360 degree recording.Nobody has a better price [...] than B&H; trust me, I shopped them all! Buy with confidance!!

Comments about Olympus DS-50 Digital Voice Recorder:
I bought the DS50 unit to record my teaching classes. Using the me52w noise cancellation microphone and the conference microphone sensitivity setting and with the noise cut off filter on. The recording quality of my voice and that of my students in HQ mode was exellent. The unit has met my expectations in full and I am very demanding.

Comments about Olympus DS-50 Digital Voice Recorder:
I'd used analog equipment for years to record telephone interviews with, which I then converted into to MP3s by replaying them into audio editing software in order to email the recordings to transcribers. I'd looked at digital recorders for a good while; most only work with PCs. So when I read that Olympus had several models that worked with Macs, and verified that the DS-50 did on their site, I made the jump. This recorder is a snap to use. The only problems: I had to call Olympus to get the Mac-version of their audio software for the DS-50. That said, all it took was that one, quick call and I had the software by email shortly thereafter. My transcriber says the audio quality is astoundingly better than that of analog-to-MP3 recordings. And now all I do is offload a WAV file and email it to her without having to mess with audio editing.

Comments about Olympus DS-50 Digital Voice Recorder:
I have used several digital voice recorders, but this one is the best built and one of the easiest to use. It has good stereo sound and the controls are all in the right places which makes using it intuitive. I use it for meetings and to take voice notes. The software that comes with it is also relatively simple to use. If HP would have included voice-to-text software and a flip-out USB connector, it would have been perfect for my needs!

Comments about Olympus DS-50 Digital Voice Recorder:
I work in Human Resources in a government agency. We use the voice recorders during oral exams. To my disappointment I learned that the recorder will not allow a user to create a file name for each recording directly on the recorder itself. In addition, when downloading the files onto a computer, the file name on the recording device is not the same file name that ends up on the downloaded file. To get over this issue I had to refer to dates and times of the recording in order for me to identify each file.

Comments about Olympus DS-50 Digital Voice Recorder:
I use the DS-50 in many different facets. It is generally loaded with the album I'm listening to most often as well as an exercise track that I listen to during my workouts. I can then jump to recording my thoughts for my journal to be added to whenever I get back to my desktop computer. The whole unit is very small and so goes with me anywhere. In my job I record audio interviews and ambient sound to accompany photographic presentations and so use a Rode VideoMic to help me get past much of the ambient but the three different mic gain levels are helpful, if not subtle like you might find on a more professional unit. It's humorous however that the mic is 4x the size of the recorder.[...] this unit is great to take along for basic audio recording at a high quality.
