The FireOne from Tascam is a two-input/two-output FireWire audio interface that is capable of full duplex operation at 24-bit/192kHz resolution. The unit includes two microphone inputs with individually switchable phantom power, and a separate instrument input that can be used for recording electric guitars or basses. (Using this input disables the corresponding microphone input.)
The FireOne also provides eight function keys that can be assigned to various DAW software functions, and a weighted and illuminated jog wheel. The jog wheel is backlit and provides useful feedback, such as a visual metronome. MIDI input and output is also provided for sixteen channels of MIDI, and the interface includes multi-track recording software.
