The Tascam DV-D01U is a rack-mountable disc player capable of reading and playing a wide variety of file formats, including DVD, DVD Audio, CD-DA, Mp3, WMA, WAV, DivX, MPEG-2, and more! Most importantly is a RS-232 interface, allowing the unit to be controlled remotely in a studio environment.

This premium priced DVD player should consistently recognize and play discs, but it does not. When it does, it's great, when it doesn't I have to depend on a much lower cost consumer grade player that consistently plays the discs you feed it. The DV-DO1U is the replacement model for the DV-6500 which has the same problem. I've owned both. I expect more from Tascam whose products usually have been of excellent quality and reliability.

Very durable, I have 3 in rack mount cases and never have any problem operating. Very easy to use, but can only access menu through the remote. Navigation controls on front panel would be a great feature.

Player was to be used for daily encoding at a local cable station. Quality seemed to be good when it played. Repeatedly had issues freezing during playback, and not reading the disc at all. All other players in house were much more versatile and cost half the price. Not reliable.

Unit was purchased as a DVD player for a corporate television system. Intent was to use the HDMI output for SDI conversion with an AJA mini-converter. The unit turns off the HDMI output unless it sees an HDCP compliant television display connected to it. The DRM police have ruined another legal product usage.
