The Arecont Vision AV8360 uses an innovative technique to allow the use of a single camera to cover a large area.

The AV8360 comes equipped with four internal 2-megapixel cameras, each camera capable of covering a 90° viewing angle. In combination, these four imagers provide a 360° surrounding view of an area, which is then displayed on a quad monitor.

This means that a single AV8360 can be used to cover an area normally requiring the installation of up to 24 analog cameras, making it a huge time and cost saver.

360° Panoramic Surveillance (4 x 90° Viewing Angle)
The AV8360 comes equipped with four 2-megapixel imagers. The four cameras are arranged so that each camera covers a 90° viewing angle. Together, these cameras cover a complete circle, providing a viewer with a 360° view of an area. This allows the use of a single camera to cover an area normally requiring up to 24 installed analog fixed cameras.
HDTV Quality Video Over a Network
Each camera is equipped with a 2 megapixel CMOS chip capable of delivering full motion, progressive scan 1600 x 1200 video resolution at 22 FPS over a network. This degree of outstanding video quality translates into easy identification of people and objects but its most crucial aspect is its ability to maintain a picture's detail even under extreme magnification. In practical terms this means that a user can zoom in on a car to read its license plates, get a close up look a person's tattoo and other identification details.
PTZ Operation with No Moving Parts
The AV8360 offers an ingenious method for performing PTZ operations without any actual moving parts, sort of a virtual PTZ. Instead of using a mechanized head, which are susceptible to wear and tear over time, all the camera's movements are completely digital. If an operator wants to sweep across a room for example, he simply moves the slider on the screen and the camera will jump from one imager to the next. The same goes for zoom operation. Instead of waiting for a lens to work its way through different optical stages, an operator simply clicks on an image, instantly magnifying it many times.
ROI (Region of Interest)
ROI allows a selected portion of the image to record at a higher resolution than the surrounding area. By recording only important sections in high resolution, ROI keeps file sizes small, saving storage space and maximizing a network's bandwidth capacity. Four areas of an image can be selected for ROI, with each region independently adjustable for resolution and compression rates.
PoE (Power over Ethernet)
PoE uses the standard Ethernet cable to transmit power to the camera. By having a single cable delivering both data and power to the camera, POE allows the camera to be placed in areas inaccessible to an AC outlet and will also keep the camera operating in the event of a localized power failure.
