The LensCoat LegCoat Tripod Leg Protector Set is a set of three tripod leg covers, which are made of closed-cell foam padding and heavy-duty neoprene. They are soft to the touch but rugged in function. The padding guards your hands from the cold tripod legs in lower temperatures, and can protect the tripod from minor nicks and scratches. Made with "hook & loop" fasteners for easy assembly.
Finished in simple black, ideal for everyday use. Also available in camouflage patterns for different seasons and habitats .

I've used Op Tech covers and the sleeve cover slips badly. I've used TriPads which is a good product but a little too hard for my tastes. LegCoats has saved my shoulder. I carry around a Canon 500 f/4 several miles a day. i used to come home aching but not anymore. This is a highly recommended product.
BTW, in cold weather you'll really appreciate the insulation from the cold legs.

Used with a Gitzo Explorer tripod (side column with tilt). The fit is very nice and the material seems to be fairly good. A little too thick however since it interferes with the center column when the tripod is folded. I have not used the permanent mounting glue strips yet, but the only problem is that they slide up and down a little. I have cut down the inner foam a little (the covers stay on by velcro) to see if this will help - and it seems to be better.

Often I will stash my Gitzo tripod in the back of my truck, on the floor. Bad things can happen there, but I feel better that these leg protectors are minimizing the damage.

These are outstanding. They protect the legs on your tripod as well as pad your shoulders when carrying it out in the field. Should help in cold weather too. You will not be disappointed.

I was hoping to get something to give my Gitzo CF legs some protection but the Legcoat is a bit overkill. I can see this product being very useful for times when you need to camouflage your gear but for general use, I don't recommend this product.
It's very thick and makes handling of the tripod (and storage) very cumbersome. My tripod legs don't close tight with these covers on.

Fits Nicely on Tripod. Good padding for shoulders when carrying tripod with camera and lens mounted.

I bought a set of these for my Gitzo GT2531 tripod. They don't fit all that well, they are too thick (when I have all three on, I can't get the tripod into the case). The foam appears to be plain old pipe insulation you can get for $2.00 for six feet at the hardware store. The neoprene covers fit loosely and don't stretch to cover the ends of the foam.
Definitely not worth the money.

Comments about LensCoat LegCoat Tripod Leg Protectors (Black):
I was so excited when I received them and then once I had two of them on I realized that they added enough bulk that when I went to pick up the tripod with them on it stretched my hand enough to cause enough discomfort that with them on I would not use a very expensive tripod. I ended up returning the product.
So if anyone has any type of hand issues these products would not work for them.

I bought this product expecting to have a glove fit on my GT2530. Well, the foam pipe's diameter is larger than tripod's leg - that means, if you shoot outside, dirt and debris will get in between tripod leg and "protector". The neoprene cover looks pretty, indeed, but it's too large as well.
Bottom line is a $1.50 pipe insulation and a piece of Gaffer tape will do a better job - maybe not as pretty looking as LegCoat but definitely much better protection.
... before you ask, yes, i bought the model designed for Gitzo GT2530 (according to specs)

Comments about LensCoat LegCoat Tripod Leg Protectors (Black):
Padded legs make all the difference in cold weather by insulating your hands from the heat transfering to the tripod legs. They also are a real shoulder saver when hiking with a large lens mounted on the tripod. Even with a larger lens like the Nikkor 600mm f4.0, I just lay it over my shoulder and hike to the next subject of interest. With the tripod leg pads, it is quite feasible if not completely comfortable.

This is very good product.I always used closed-cell foam cover to buy [...].It is cheaper and easily break. So,this time I bought this Leg coat for my new tripod.I inspected this item from last week. The result is very good.A thick padding with a sticky tape and strong neoprene cover,,,I am satisfied with this item.
