The LensCoat LegCoat Tripod Leg Protector Set is a set of three tripod leg covers, which are made of closed-cell foam padding and heavy-duty neoprene. They are soft to the touch but rugged in function. The padding guards your hands from the cold tripod legs in lower temperatures, and can protect the tripod from minor nicks and scratches. Made with "hook & loop" fasteners for easy assembly.
Finished in simple black, ideal for everyday use. Also available in camouflage patterns for different seasons and habitats .

Saves your back when toting a large telephoto lens/camera (600mm w/Nikon D3X) on a Gitzo 5531S
The foam however does not stay in place and climbs up the tripod legs requiring the user to reposition it constantly and it is, just overpriced "foam"
In the future I would recommend buying some "pipe foam insulation" at your local Home Improvement Store and doing it yourself for a few dollars (I did on a second tripod that I use for my 200-400 telephoto)

I recently bought this product for my GT5531s and the only reason I gave it a one star rating is that zero was not an option. IMHO this product is a rip off. The foam inner core is nothing more than foam water pipe insulation that you can buy at any hardware store for $2 for an 8'length and the worst part is, it does not wrap completely around the leg leaving a 1/2" groove of unprotected leg under the neoprene cover. I'm planning to buy 2 length's and custom fabricate an inner core that fits. You'd think at the premium charged for this product you'd get something that fits!

I use this leg protector set on a Gitzo 5532 and they fit very good. Nice touch on the sticky inside the insulation to make it stay in place and the Velcro is full length to keep it in place.

I had a hard time getting my hands around the tripod legs with these installed. I removed the closed cell foam padding and just use the outside neoprene cover. This configuration seems to be more practical for my needs.

The foam does not go all around the top leg of a Gitzo GT5530s
