The Sony CCD-TRV238E "PAL" Hi-8 Handycam Camcorder keeps your memories alive in full color, excellent detail and great quality sound. It uses the Hi-8 format that makes your videos picture as realistic as possible.

Also features a long 20x Optical / 990x digital zoom, and a 2.5" swivel screen LCD. Record into the night, using the night shot plus infrared recording system, an advanced feature that lets you shoot great video even in total darkness.

Hi-8 Format
This format is a high quality video and audio recording, with up to 400 lines of horizontal resolution on a compact affordable videocassette.
Zoom
Equipped with an optical zoom that magnifies the image up to 20x by increasing the focal length of the lens. This feature acts like a telescope to produce close-up shots with extraordinary clarity, and - with the 990x digital zoom - you will be able to bring the objects up to 990x closer, by electronically magnifying the images.
Program Auto Exposure
Program AE modes make all necessary settings to shutter speed, aperture and focus for a variety of indoor and outdoor situations. For virtually perfect shooting in any environment, choose from Portrait, Sports Lesson, Landscape, Beach & Ski, Spotlight or Sunset & Moon modes.
Night Shot Plus Infrared System
This mode lets you record video even when shooting in total darkness 0 lux, using the camcorder's infrared system up to 10 feet away.
Picture Effects
Get creative when recording or playing back videos with Picture Effect modes.
Effects available in camera mode: Negative Art, Sepia, Black & White, Polarization, Slim, Stretch, Pastel and Mosaic.
Effects available in Playback mode: Negative Art, Sepia, Black & White and Polarization.
Fader Effects
Enhances your personal videos by adding professional looking fade effects. Choose from Black, Mosaic, Black & White and Stripe.
Titling
Add professional looking titles to your videos. Select from 8 preset or 2 customized titles, with up to 22 characters.
End Search
Advances the videotape to the last 5 seconds of the recorded scene. This prevents accidentally recording over previous recorded videos.
Battery Information
Battery information is displayed for 7 seconds on the LCD screen or viewfinder when charging and when the camera is turned off. The display will show how much the battery is charged in 10 percent increments and the recordable time left, using either the LCD screen or the viewfinder.
InfoLithium Battery with AccuPower
The Lithium batteries can be recharged at any time without developing any memory effect. Will provide longer battery life. AccuPower Meter is a system that continuously displays the amount of battery time remaining in minutes in the viewfinder.
Manual Focus
Allows the user to determine the focus of their choosing by adjusting the cameras focus ring allowing more creativity and/or effects.
Manual focusing also allows the user to control the cameras focus in difficult situations where either the subject or environment does not allow the cameras auto focus to perform at an optimal level.
Built-In White LED Light
Brightens your videos when shooting in low light with low power consumption.
