The Giottos MT-9371 Aluminum Tripod Legs, as part of the professional-level MT III series, has a unique center column design, is versatile and easy to use, but yet still economical.
The unique swiveling center column mounting design allows it to be used as a lateral arm with angle adjustment, which is especially useful for nature and macro photography. The column can also be used upside down and reversed. It allows for 360° horizontal and 180° vertical adjustment, and the column can be positioned and set quickly by using the locking knobs.
In addition, the top part of the center column separates from the main column. By slipping this short camera platform into the swiveling center column mount, you now effectively have a universal 3-way head. This set-up also allows the tripod to be used for very low down-to-the-ground shots.

The Giottos 9371 has to be the best value on the planet for this size and weight tripod. The engineering is simply awesome! They've paid attention to the smallest details and its flexibility is unparalleled at any price. Even the carrying bag is awesome (sturdy, well padded, internal zipper pocket, etc.). Before buying, I compared to two "major" brands and decided that I couldn't come close to the same quality and value for even twice the price. If you want a sturdy, infinitely flexible, pro-model tripod (albeit a fairly heavy one), you simply can't go wrong with this! A perfect match for my Markins M10 ballhead & Nikon D200 w/ any size lens.

Decent build quality, and fairly heavy. Works OK for still photography, but not stable enough for serious video work. Ease of use is average due to the so-so build quality of the center column locking levers, various screws (aluminum rather than brass or stainless), and poor machining of the aluminum center column. Basically what you'd expect from a [*] Gitzo Knock Off.

Comments about Giottos MT-9371 Aluminum Tripod Legs, with Multi-Position Center Column - Supports 22 lbs (10 kg):
This is my second Giottos tripod - i loved my smaller sized carbon fiber version so much that when i decided i needed a tripod with a little more holding power i went directly to search B&H for Giotto's tripods. I love this tripod as well. It is very well constructed, very stable and quality gear. It easly handles my 5d MKII with 24-70 f/2.8 L, aleinbee's ringflash fitted with a 30" moon unit. Includes carry case and tool kit. Nice unit! I love both of my Giotto's tripods!

I used this tripod at a busy music recital. With the legs partially closed I was able to get over everyones heads (7.5 ft?) and get still had great stability for my 60D with battery grip and 24-105L.
I am also using this for when I tether and have both my camera and my notebook deployed on it.

I shot a wedding last weekend and used it outside for the prewedding portraits and then set it up inside for the ceremony shots. I never had to worry about my heavy Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L lens moving. This is one sturdy tripod and quick, easy adjustments outside on the uneven grass. This isn't a tripod that I would lug around on hikes because it is heavy, but it's great if you want stability and quality for a very good price. It is also great for macro photography as it has the ability to adjust the center column in multiple positions, including upside down. Also, I really liked the safety locking knob because I knew my lens was secure.

I deliberately bought a tripod rated for higher weights than I would put on it. The extra capacit means more stability when set for macro work and using the center column horizontally or at odd angles.

I use this tripod for Photography, I also purchased the the 3 way head, with the easy camera release. Love them both. Like the fact that you can use it in very unique positions. Great for Macro photography too. Love to use it for shooting sporting events. Very smooth!

I've only had this tripod for a month, and have only used it for a wedding shoot. This tripod is quite heavy duty and seems very strong. I wouldn't want to take it on a long hike, but for studio or on location work it's great. The case and carry strap are nice extras. This is a quality product and should provide many years of use.

I needed a solid tripod for the studio. I bought this tripod because of it high weight capacity and hight.I have also own the Gitzo Explorer that has the off center fully adjustable mast. This feature kind of spoiled me with it's versatility. So when looking for another tripod I really wanted the off center mast feature. The Giottos center mast is different than the Gitzo but works very well. The tripod is very solid an very well made. Although this is not the smallest or lightest tripod out there, it would work well for traveling. It was really nice that Giottos includes the tool kit and padded carrying bag.

this tripod is great and lighter than i thought it would be. It works very well in all positions. It can get very low to the ground and since the center column comes out it gives more range of pics for macro or any other pics. very sturdy and easy to use

Comments about Giottos MT-9371 Aluminum Tripod Legs, with Multi-Position Center Column - Supports 22 lbs (10 kg):
One out of many tripods (4 Gitzo's, 3 Bogen/Manfrotto's and now this Giottos) Bought on remote location after a Gitzo carbon rapid column cracked.
The Giottos MT-9371 is a well-made tripod. Substantial in weight, sturdy, strong, and pretty unbeatable for the money. Is it a Gitzo? No, but it offers a lot of versatility, strength and is easy to operate. Leg locks are solid, as it the center column. I much prefer it to my Manfrotto's. I would have no problem buying another of their Pro-series. It's a lot of tripod for the money!
