For years I have been frustrated by wasting time and money on prints that look nothing like what they do on my monitor. Now that I have the right equipment, that issue is gone. The Eye-One is a simple, easy to use item that for me will pay for itself in a short time. My Eye One showed up and the product couldn't have been easier, or more intuitive to use. After installing the software and calibrating the monitor, I uploaded a number of images that had been printing problems, pre-calibration. When the prints were done and I had a chance to compare them to what they looked like on the monitor, post calibration. They matched perfectly. No more guess work, or lighting or darkening guessing what the printer or lab will do to them. Going forward, I will recalibrate once a month as recommended, it only takes a few minutes. I wish I had bought this a long time ago.

I got this mostly out of curiosity because the results I had with my main monitor and its software were already good enough for me and my clients. After I tried it on my three monitors (all LCD) I can say that the result is very different depending on what brand of monitor one uses it on. The proud owners of recent Samsung monitors (two years old or newer) with Magic Color software should not bother, because the results will only be slightly different (and not necessarily better), while with my LG monitor the improvement was really dramatic. If you are willing to get deeper into the problem of correct color, you will find that this package only stores one profile at a time, by definition made for specific light and monitor. This is sufficient if you have a dedicated workplace with artificial light that never changes. Otherwise there is no way to get correct color because the white point would change with the kind of light you actually have when you work. It would be a good idea that the annotation reflected these limitations rather than saying that it is "quick, user friendly...for digital imaging enthusiasts".

Comments about X-Rite i1Display LT Color Management Solution:
Color accuracy is very important to me in my web work, so I got this little pup to help me make sure my iMac stays true to color. I got one because my photographer sister-in-law uses it and I was able to see how it helped. The software is a little clunky, but gets the job done just fine. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the device won't stick to my monitor at all, so when I use it, I have to tilt my monitor all the way back so the i1 will stay flat on the screen. It's not a huge deal, just kind of annoying.

So far no good: I have iMAC 24 running winXP under BootCamp and program crashes after completing calibration before writing profile.
X-Rite Customer Support is reviewing screendump of my error, but no news so far.
I loaned the hardware to a friend with iMAC running OS10.5; no good for him either; cannot load certain necessary drivers.

If you are ready to take your digital photography to the next level you should really be calibrating your monitors, and the i1 is a perfect tool for the job.
The whole calibration process takes just a few minutes and the difference is amazing.

There is a bit of a learning curve but I am glad I got this. I found that before calibration my pictures were all over the place. Now I am confident that my photos are right.

I ran the profiler and noticed all my images are brighter. I pulled up a couple images from a recent wedding and they appear lighter and more contrasty than before. I had a couple prints made to compare with how the images appear on the monitor.

This does what is says it is going to do within it's capabilities. I don't have the expectations that it will do what the Display2 will do, but it is nice to know that if I need those features, I can upgrade rather than trash and purchase new.
Purchased primarilly to support Photoshop editing. I am using the basic "consumer level" LCD monitors as I haven't upgraded to the higher end IPS based LCD monitors (yet) and in some cases, like a laptop, would be impossible to upgrade the monitor other than external. I've calibrated 2 desktops, a laptop and a netbook. Other than the tutorial movies, ignore the disk that comes with it. Obtain the most recent drivers from the Eye-One site. If running Win7 (or earlier) - 64 bit, those drivers are not on the disk anyway and it just installs the 32 bit which won't work.
Software design isn't overly intuitive. It took me the second or third calibration to realize that the short descriptions could be expanded for more detail on what it actually meant. Actual documentation is sparce as I did not see a manual on-line, just more movies. Overall it is rather simple though. Another hint - when manually adjusting your monitor, reposition the on-screen monitor controls from the default center to one of the corners, otherwise they will be on top of each other.
I haven't seen the need to upgrade the LT to the Display2. Also, I have not tried an advanced use not advertised by Eye-One. On Home Theater forums I saw where they were using the i1 and competing Spyder hardware with third party software (one free) to calibrate TV's. I haven't tried it and don't know if the software bypasses the limitations of the LT, or if the limitations are hardware based and would have to upgrade to the Display2 - which apparently is only a serial number regeneration.

Does the job well except for two complaints. First the instructions are woefully inadequate and un-clear. For someone like myself who has experience with monitor calibration, you can muddle through the instructions. But I suspect someone withou prior calibrating experience, wmight struggle. Second complaint is there was a software issue with the newer version of OSX and required an e-mail to customer service. The customer service was very helpful. Once up and running it has been a good purchase.

Comments about X-Rite i1Display LT Color Management Solution:
Glad I had read the reviews that remarked on how frustrating the software was to set up and use. I can understand a company wanting to save money by not printing complete directions and not providing the latest version of their software on the CD included with the purchased item, but how much effort would it take to put some helpful directions on their web site? The two videos on their web site almost provide what you need if you watch them a couple times and play with the software in between.
I guess I've got a good monitor because the calibration made very little difference. So, bottom line: not worth the cost and frustration in my case. Glad I didn't buy the more expensive version and waste the additional dollars.

I use this on my Dell 22" monitor. It has made all the difference in the world - colors are spot on. If you have issues with your lab because your colors never look in print like they did on your monitor, I would absolutely recommend getting this. I would recommend going to their website and viewing one of their videos on how to use this. It doesn't come with instructions.

I have used this to do a gray scale calibration of my projector, and it was easy to set up and calibrate, I did not use any of the software included except for the drivers and that is why I purchased the LT model.

I use the i1 Display LT once a month to color correct my 24" LCD Apple monitor. The i1 Display LT is easy to use and works great. You can also upgrade the product at a later time to the more expensive i1 Display 2 should you want ore features or if your display has external contrast, color and brightness controls.
If you are a photographer — get one!

The Eye One is exceptionally simple to use, place it on your screen and follow the on screen prompts. Make your rough adjustments and the system fine tunes the rest.
The only thing you want to do is not have a light shining directly on the monitor as this will affect the readings. However, this is probably a problem with just about any calibrator.

Was confused with installation at first and didn't think there was compatibility with my Vista, so I called for help. Glad i did ... the rep was more than helpful and had me load the eye-one on line, patiently waiting for each process to talk me through. He also gave me helpful advice. After that the callibration was easy.
The eye-one met all my expectations and I've been getting brilliant color results with my at-home prints, using my new Canon IP 4700 Pixma printer.
