Comments about Fujifilm ASK-2000 Dye Sublimation Thermal Photo Printer:
Professional use, we got this for a large college event. It was able to print as fast as listed (8 seconds per 4x6). The images coming out look good, takes a bit of tweaking in Lightroom to get the color and sharpness to look right.
For set up on a PC we ran into some issues, like the plug and play wouldn't work and the computer didn't recognize the printer. Could have been user error. The set up on a mac worked great after we brought the zip file (normally MAC OS can open these) into a PC, unzipped, then brought over the files unzipped.

Comments about Fujifilm ASK-2000 Dye Sublimation Thermal Photo Printer:
We use this printer in our office to run 4x6 & 5x7 copies of photos for our clients. It does a great job reproducing colors accurately with little to no editing needed, as long as you install the ICC profile. It prints very quickly, roughly 20 seconds or so per print, and provides nice archival borderless prints.
Cons: It is a bit loud when it operates, and it's pretty heavy so it won't travel easily. It was a little difficult at first to set up on a Mac – it did not come with Mac drivers so we had to find them on the Fuji website. However, after figuring out the set up on the first computer, the other machines were easy.

Comments about Fujifilm ASK-2000 Dye Sublimation Thermal Photo Printer:
Our photography company needed a printer to execute prints on location for events in a timely manner. We were on the fence between the Kodak 6850 and the ASK-2000. First off, in comparing the two the Kodak needs to be "upgraded" to print 5x7's. AND this "upgrade" is P E R M A N E N T!!! This means it can no longer go back and print smaller photos (such as 4x6) EVER! Called Kodak, and confirmed myself. What a joke for a [$] machine.ASK-2000 - Can print many sizes including 5x7 with no special "upgrades" needed. Simply buy the media size you need, install and your done.First Impression - WOW it's Heavy. This is no joke. Be careful lifting and transporting this unit. Although the actual foot print is rather small, it is pure dead weight to lift. 100% steel.Un-boxing / set-up / ink & paper install took about 35-min. The instructions are not that great.. but with common sense your up and running. One thing I noticed that was not mentioned in the manual, was when using the 5x7 paper you need to use the included black spool adapters to take up spool slack. (you will see what I mean). Operation - Well, I use MAC OSX. there is not an "included" driver for Mac's so it needs to be downloaded form their website. It was very easy, and installs very easy as anything else on the Mac does. No issues. I found that I needed to "play" with the output profiles (ICC) a bit to get "professional" looking results. But, this is normal for any new printer. I am using Aperture to send files right to the machine, no issues at all. However the machine is a little noisy.. but all DS Printers are... The printer comes with x1 roll of 5x7 paper. This WILL produce 308 5x7 prints! Real world times are 4-prints a min. 240/5x7 / hr. Very nice workhorse.
Comments about Fujifilm ASK-2000 Dye Sublimation Thermal Photo Printer:
Easy to set and small enough for a desktop you will finally have the capability of printing permanent professional quality pictures at home. A little noisy but extremely fast. Only issue is that I set it with 6 wide paper believing that a coul print 6X8's 6X9's and 6X4 (sideways). That last operation is not possible and you need to reset the machine with 4 wide paper to print small photos. Delivery from B&H wast fast and flawless.
Expertise: High
Problems Encountered: Noisy and requires paper roll change for small pictures. Does not have driver for Mac computers.
Previous Equivalent Item Owned: HP photo printers.
Items I Recommend: Photoshop CS2 or CS3 software.
Comments about Fujifilm ASK-2000 Dye Sublimation Thermal Photo Printer:
I bought the Ask 2000 for a job that required delivery of500 4x6 prints in less than 3 hours. I made my quota ofimages with 45 minutes to spare. The color was everythingyou would expect from a Fuji product. The paper is glossyand makes the colors look juicy. I found the printer drivereasy to install and use. I had the entire system up andworking 1/2hour after opening the box. I would recommend this unit toany event photographer who needs to produce a qualityproduct on site.
Expertise: Nearly a genius
Problems Encountered: Instructions in the user manual are clearly a Japanesetranslation. Regardless, a photographer who is proficientwill be able to figure out how to load it by looking at theclearly labeled pictures included in the instructions.
