While this hood is made of plasic, it feels like it is polycorbonate which pound for pound is stronger than steel. The bayonet mount works very smoothly with a crisp click when it locks. When reversed, it stores neatly on the lens and takes up little room. It looks to me that this hood will last for the life of the lens.

Because the 40-150 lens reaches out so far it is vulnerable to have the sun shine on the lens causing flare on the images. Enter this nifty lens hood ...problem solved! It is easy to fit on (with clear arrow indication) and clicks firmly into place. When you store your camera away, the lens hood is reversed siting comfortably over the lens so fits in the camera bag. I also like the idea that the lens hood helps protect the lens glass and should you get caught in the rain it keeps the rain off the glass so not spoiling the image. Being Olympus brand everything fits together perfectly with a quality feel about it.
