Sto-Fen OM-400 Omni-Bounce for Nikon SB-400
The Sto-fen Omni-Bounce creates a diffused bare bulb effect, giving even coverage across the entire frame, with lenses from 15mm to 200mm in the 35mm format (and equal in other formats as well). The Omni-Bounce is easy to use and goes onto and off the flash in seconds with custom fitting and no touch fastener.
Designed for years of service without the bulk of some other diffusers, it is small enough to fit easily into a gadget bag or pocket.

As far as fitting the Nikon SB-400 and doing what it's supposed to do, it's perfect. But it's a stupid piece of machine blown, fitted plastic that probably costs pennies to produce. So, why do I have to pay about $20 for it?! Because, what else are you going to buy to get the job done? They all cost about the same. I wish these would just come standard with a flash. Hey Nikon, go ahead and include them and you can even charge us $20 more and we'd be thrilled that it was in the box! Yes, we photogs are that dumb and easy to please! All in all, other than price, this is perfect and worth 4 stars.

This Sto-fen product is the first Sto-fen I have used that did not deliver as promised. I also have the ones for Minolta/Sony flashes and they work like a charm. This one however does not do a great job at softening the light. It still produces harsh flash but I think it is due to the small size of the SB400. You need to be a bit off the subject (around eight feet or so) to start to see any softening of the light. Having said that it still has benefits once used within its limitations and that is why even with a three star rating I will still recommend the item.

Doesn't make much of a difference when you bounce the SB-400 off the ceiling but it's a huge difference when you need to shoot straight-on such as when you're shooting portrait.

great accessory that I use full time on my SB-400 flash. great for fill-flash and portraits. some complain that it is expensive for what it does... but you will use it so much that the cost is inconsequential. stays put on the flash very nicely.

This is one amazing accessory! Turned the flashhead on my SB-400 to first click (60 degrees), installed the OmniBounce and the resulting images were outstanding! Soft lighting with essentially no shadow. An absolute must-have!

It works subtly but it works. Not a huge improvement but enough to recommend and it's cheap to purchase. It doesn't seem to fit as well as my SB-600 one but it fits well enough and like I said, It's cheap enough.

I've been looking for something like this for my SB-400 speedlight and this works very well. I can bounce without it, but sometimes when I can't bounce, this works very well for those situations. You do lose a little distance, but I can live with that.
