This small and inconspicuous quick-release post fits my Slik Universal U212 Tripos perfectly. I would recommend this post along with Slik U212 for the enthusiast on a budget. However, if money allows, I recommend a more professional grade, such as those made by Manfrotto or Gitzo.

The quick release post makes swapping cameras/lenses fast and easy. I actually keep one on my Nikon camera body, and another on my 400mm lens. That way, its more likely I won't lose a shot by having to switch plates and changes lenses.

A constant field companion, I was somewhat upset when I lost the quick release on the beach @ Hatteras NC, thinking with the age of the product, there was no way to get it replaced.
