B&H purchasing experience: Excellent! [...].Summary: probably the best LCD TV you can buy. Pros: very sharp, vibrant colors. Cons: skin tones not quite accurate, pixelation with complex images in motion.Details:I purchased this TV to replace the old analog TV in the bedroom. Before I brought it upstairs, though, I did a side-by-side comparison with my Sony 34" XBR HD TV that has a picture tube and the most notable differences are:- skin tones: the picture tube TV always displays skin tones accurately. The LCD TV seems to be hit or miss; sometimes it's accurate, other times people have a purplish hue. I tried to play with the color/hue adjustments but if you fix it for one program it will be off for another.- sharpness: this LCD TV is much much sharper than the picture tube even though both TVs are digital.- animation: watching anything by Pixar (Finding Nemo or The Incredibles) is breathtaking.- pixelation: when displaying complex detailed images that are in motion (e.g., closeup of a field with the wind blowing through blades of grass), you really see the pixels whereas it's perfectly smooth on the picture tube. While I noticed these things during the side-by-side comparison, they weren't as evident after I brought it upstairs. It's a great TV.

As an avid rail fan, It is a real pleasure to wiew steam trains in so much detail and faithful color. Although not much of a sports fan, tennis matches are like being there.

[...]. As for the set itself, the picture is gorgeous, there are plenty of inputs (HDMI, composite, component, etc.) and it's assembled and ready to use right out of the box (provided you're sitting it on an entertainment center). The only issues I have so far is getting it to work as a PC monitor (which is most likely a PC issue) and getting used to the interface/menu. I highly recommend this product!

I was hesitant at first purchasing this product online; but B&H came through and I wasn't disappointed. Very NICE HD playback with HD movie camera and BluRay disk playing; it's just awesome. Sony with the XBR4 engine and the (40") screen is perfect for my room. Good sound and a wonderful picture. This Sony product with the B&H ordering process is a perfecto !

Comments about Sony KDL-40XBR4 40" 16:9 BRAVIA XBR LCD 1080p:
After thorough research I settled on this TV. There are plenty cheaper, but this set more than meets my high expectations. It provides a great picture with all the inputs, bells and whistles you could desire. It easily attached to my DVD and PC, and Sony reps on the phone were happy to help with cable-related installation questions.Unlike most HD-LCD's, this Brava is modern-looking without surrounding itself with a highly reflective glossy black framing that interferes with viewing whenever there is a nearby light to glare at you like you are looking into a mirror. (Why do most manufacturers they do that?)[...] Great price too!

Use it in bedroom with DirectTV DVR and Sony STR-DG910 Receiver for surround sound. Resolution for cityscapes and ball games are awsome. Even standard TV broadcasts look better. Have not experienced fan hum reported in some blogs. Integrates well with the receiver. The frame around the TV is elegant, but makes the TV look larger than it is.

This is my only TV. I have it hooked up to DirecTV but I have Comcast Cable as a backup. DirecTV's HD selection is among the best and broadest and the look of movies and sporting events on this TV is amazing!
