These are expensive..and i would only recommend this if you're an audiophile who have/plan to buy an portable amplifier (+ interconnect) with a decent source (i recommend Cowon D2/iAudio 7). Sound is simply amazing..."crisp"..crystal clear..and good bass (i reduced it on my Cowon D2 because i dislike loud bass). Comfort wise, you probably can't feel it once its in your ear..
But the PTH model is pretty useless. What it allows you to do is that the Push to Hear module has a microphone and you can hear voices through it once you slide it on..
For those who are buying this, go for the cheaper SE500!! (they are practically the same thing).

Granted, the product sounds FANTASTIC, however, the wires that connect to the earbuds themselves seem to become very brittle within only a few months, and break. At the price that I paid for them, I would expect them to last SIGNIFICANTLY more than 2 years of casual indoor use at a desk.

After much research and some trials with comparable In-Ear Headphones, I opted for the SE530's - to my ears - Amazing sound - unparalleled clarity from highs to mid-range to rich bass!!!!!!!!

Previously used the SE430's. To me, these seem to have a larger range with the additional bass. Overall these sound better than the 430s and are worth the extra money.

As many other users I experienced the breaking of the cable. My warranty period was just over, shure told me that they will NOT (even for money) repair them and offered to sell me new ones.
Of course I declined. All I can do is warn people. They sound good (not as good as sennheiser e8 though), but they will work not very long.

The cable will break, and Sure will NOT REPAIR IT. I sent them in for cable exchange and shure told me that the cable is not exchangeable und since the earphones were not in warranty any more, they would not repair them. Instead they offered me new ones to a price insignificantly lower than the normal retail price.Since I paid about [$] 2,5 years ago, I expected more from the company as well as their productes und will not buy shure product any more.Fortunately it is easy to upgrade now, the sennheiser IE8 are a real improvement.

Comments about Shure SE530PTH - Sound Isolating High-Definition In-Ear Headphones with Push-To-Hear Control:
I listen to music (all kinds from hip hop to electronica to jazz to rock) on my ipod all day at work and was felt like I was really missing out by the lack of bass response from my eytomtic er6-i's. While I loved the clarity at the middle-high end of the spectrum, the bass and lows were totally lacking. I'm not someone who needs heavy bass, but there was next to nothing with the etymotics, and because of this, music felt like it lacked richness.
I started doing research on earphones, and the Shure SE530s seem to be the ones everyone loved, so I decided to go for it, even though they cost so much. I was a little worried that I'd have buyer's remorse when I got them, but as soon as I put them in my ears, I knew they were worth every penny. The response and clarity from low to high is excellent. I never thought I could love earphones this much.
Before deciding to buy these, I tried out my husband's Klipsch S4s because I'd heard the bass was good on those, and it was, but it completely distorted the mids and the highs.

Comments about Shure SE530PTH - Sound Isolating High-Definition In-Ear Headphones with Push-To-Hear Control:
Pros: The clearest mids and highs of any earphones. A Youtube frequency test produced sounds from 12Hz to 16KHz (assuming my hearing perfect). Cymbals, claps, and guitar riff are clear and precise to the point of it being exhausting after just 20 mins of listening. Put it this way, they sound like fireworks popping in your ear. Mids are very clear. You can pick up good singers from very good singers. Bass is good and tight, but not overwhelming, nor is very deep. I personally prefer the deeper bass of the Denon earphones, but the SE530 bass is very good, too. Sound isolation is the best of any earphone.Cons- Bass is not deep, but still very good and sharp, despite the claim of have "2 woofers". My ear canals are too small. Even the smallest earpiece (both foam and silicone) still felt too tight and uncomfortable for listening more than an hour. Cord durability is questionable (Look up durablity on [@] reviews). Changing ear pieces is a chore because the earpieces slide so far in, replacing them is very taxing. I know this is by manufacturer design so that the earpiece is gauranteed to come with earphone when you remove them from your ear, but this is riduculous.Overall - Very good earphone, but not worth the [$], maybe in the $250-300 price range, which is on sale now.

Buy these earphones, and you'll never listen to any other earphones EVER.I mostly use these when I listen to music, but have used them numerous times as personal monitors - it's as if you're singing in your own ear! They're that good at reproducing accurate sound!I own a pair of Bang & Olufsen Form 2, 'Earphones' (that's what they're called), Klipsch Custom-2, used to own a few Sennheiser earphones, but of all, the Shure SE530's are the best sounding, with full rich bass (not too much) and crisp clear highs. I also travel a lot, and these prove to be VERY useful when flying - almost complete silence, and whenever you need to talk to someone, just switch on the PTH controller (a must-have!). I also just put 'em on when I'm in a noisy environment and need to concentrate on something...Shure also has brilliant warranty service. I bought my first Se530's in Korea (they used to be called the E500)[...]I was especially delighted to see that they had made some changes to the new models (very positive) to the cables - made them a bit longer, and also made them more flexible. Rather than buying a pair of cheaper earphones, save up some money, and get the SE530's! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT! Especially if you're die-hard audiophile, and just NEED to hear all the nuances of every song (make sure your songs are at a higher bit rate than the average 192kbps though).PS: The next best earphones are the Klipsch Custom-2's. (Don't get the more expensive Custom-3's - they have more bass - which is way too much!) They have wonderful balanced sound, and aren't as expensive.

After using the E5C or the new SE530/ SE530PTH, everything else sounds muddy. Spend the time to pick out the best inserts for your ears.
I had a pair of Bose over the ear units with the active noise canceling, but they are not even in the same league as the Shure SE530.
Also, the small in the ear design takes up negligible room the my briefcase. I use these mostly in flight. They are not for someone who has to take them on and off on a repeated basis, such as a DJ.
I rarely carry the PTH ("Push to hear") module, so shop for the best B&H deal-- whether rebates and price make sense to buy the PTH accessory or not. You can probably do without it.
Worth every penny. Anyone who says these are not worth it probably have not spent the time to do the proper fitting to their ears.
Only con is my own fault-- I now wish I had imported ALL of my music into my iPod in lossless format. You can really hear the difference.
