The Porta Brace HIP-3 Hip Pack, Large (Midnight Black)is designed to hold a small Mini DV camcorder, tapes and batteries, and other accessories. It can be used either in the belly position or fanny position. The main compartment has a reinforced interior. There is a pocket on the front, a zippered pocket on the top, three front slip pockets, a side pocket and a pocket for your keys. The pack has a wide, quick-release waist belt. A divider for the main compartment is included.

I never do these reviews, but just had to on this item! This is a very well built bag and will last you for years, HOWEVER, it has one very large flaw! It has many zippers for storage space, but each zipper is metal and so is the zipper pull. This means that when you walk with this bag attached to your hip, it jingles like the dickens! If you need your bag to be a silent partner on your body, this is NOT the bag for you! I had to break off each zipper pull and put small nylon cords on each. It works this way, but you would think that a Company like Porta Brace would have thought about this jingle problem?? They make superior bags and equipment, but this one in my humble opinion falls way short unless you are in the woods and you need it to warn the bears that you are near??

Just got it, used it for a day so far - very impressed with this pack - roomy and durable. I really like the rigid walls of the main compartment. Only drawback was the cost, but of course it says "Porta Brace" on it. You know what I mean - like it a lot overall.

We use the hip pack to hold our wireless recievers and then use two 3 foot XLR cables to connect them to our P2 camera - since it is not possible to mount our recievers on the camera. We had the medium one, but there was not enough room for me to fit the recievers, batteries, wide angle adapter - etc..
It is a little big for all day use, but sure beats carring around a run bag.
