The Tamrac 5765 Velocity 5x Photo Hip Pack Convertible (Black) is a 600 denier PolyTek bag made to hold a digital or film SLR with zoom lens attached (up to 5.0" long), additional lenses and a flash. Inside the main compartment, the camera with lens attached is suspended on two vertical, foam-padded dividers. The bag converts from a shoulder bag to a hip pack with the Tuck-A-Way hip belt. The cinch straps on the hip belt help stabilize the pack. There is a Quick Flip Top that opens away from the body for easy access to the gear.
The front pocket has organizer pockets inside, to keep a mobile phone, PDA or photo accessories within easy reach. The bag has a Memory & Battery Management System that uses red flags to identify available memory cards and batteries from ones that are used up. The case uses the S.A.S. (Strap Accessory System) and M.A.S. (Modular Accessory System) products to customize bag.

Comments about Tamrac 5765 Velocity 5x Photo Hip Pack Convertible Bag (Black):
I purchased Tamrac's 8x backpack but also needed an in between bag for a recent trip to Alaska. Some of the bus/train trips we took simply would not accomodate large bags. The 5765 Velocity 5x Photo Hip Pack Convertible Bag filled that void.
Roomy enough to carry the essentials. Comfortable with easy access

Comments about Tamrac 5765 Velocity 5x Photo Hip Pack Convertible Bag (Black):
I use this bag for shooting on location, mostly weddings. While I find that my gear is too heavy to carry just around my waist, I have taken to wearing the arm strap AND the waist strap at the same time. This keeps the bag secure on my body when I'm moving but distributes the weight between my shoulders and my waist. I am also able to quickly unlatch the waist, swing the bag to my front for easy access and put it back with very little difficulty.
I can fit a great deal inside. The movable padding allows you to use your imagination for packing.
I wish it came with a few more fabric loops for adding hooks, but Tamrac offers a lot of attachments. The water bottle attachment especially is a lifesaver. This is definitely a well made and useful bag for on the go, but not big enough to keep all your equipment all of the time.

This is a good hip bag that also works well as a holster bag. Carries a camera and lens, along with another lens & flash. Well made and comfortable.

Comments about Tamrac 5765 Velocity 5x Photo Hip Pack Convertible Bag (Black):
Just returned from two weeks exploring remote Kenyan communities. This bag served me well. It was comfortable, easy to get at things, and it seemed secure. The waist belt/strap was a nice to have. It provided a quick way to stash the camera for a moment when I wanted to have a conversation and such. I carried my D60, chargers, batteries, cards, an Ipod, Earphone case, hard sunglasses case, and some cables...no problem.
Comments about Tamrac 5765 Velocity 5x Photo Hip Pack Convertible Bag (Black):
Perfect! I was looking for a minimalistic Hip Pack style bag to carry my DSLR and essentials -- all without looking too much like a camera bag. For me this includes: DSLR with 4.5 lens attached, a second 4 lens detached, flash, accessories like filters, batts, mem cards, cleaning equip, personal items...etc. Surprisingly, this bag does the job with some room to spare thanks to its efficient design.I especially appreciate the snug hip-strap fit and shoulder strap combo. In fact, after shooting an event yesterday I found myself still wearing the bag later in the evening, completely unaware of its presence or weight. Very comfy. With the hip & shoulder strap combo, I can swing it around from back to front very easily and quickly access anything. Close the lid and I use it to post my elbows on to stabilize shots. When finished, I just swing it right back behind me, and it looks simply like a medium sized waste pack. The grab handle is very nice, zippers work great, and inside the accessory pouch are little red flags sewn in the pockets to help distinguish used cards/batteries from new ones. While I have my own system for doing this, I appreciate the thought that went into it none-the-less. I may find another use for them yet. After much research, I narrowed down my search to Tamrac. Then to the 8x Velocity Sling model and this one. Trying them out for a while with the Tamrac rep on site, the decision was very easy: this one. Features, Ease, Design, and Expectations are easily 5-stars. For value, I had a harder time giving 5-stars because it was still $60! But in relative terms, it was a pretty good price, and exceeded my expectations -- and I love the bag a lot!!... so I'll give it a 5 as well.
Problems Encountered: Its convenience makes me want to take the DSLR all the time -- even for occasions and places I normally would just grab my point & shoot for. This darn bag makes it hard to justify leaving it behind anymore.

Comments about Tamrac 5765 Velocity 5x Photo Hip Pack Convertible Bag (Black):
I added this to my photo gear to have an organized way of keeping my filters, hoods, and other small gear. It matches my large Tamrac backpack so it looks great, yet is very practical. It actually even has metal hooks on the shoulder strap!
Expertise: Serious amateur.
