The black Velocity 6x Compact Sling Bag opens up a world of shooting possibilities for you. It's rated to hold your small DSLR with a 5" lens attached, extra lens or flash plus various accessories. The camera is held facing down in shooting position supported by padded, movable internal dividers. The pack is ostensibly worn on your back but can easily be swung to the front for rapid access as a sling pack. The comfortable strap is padded and distributes the weight evenly making this pack a joy to tote around. There's also a top carry handle for quick grab situations. The pack is made from rugged 600D PolyTek.
The pack is characterized by a front Quick Flip Top that open away from your body providing both rapid access to the camera as well as helping with security since no one around you will be able to see inside the pack. The top lid features an inside accessory pocket for anything small like a lens cap or memory card. In the front, there's a larger zippered accessory pocket that contains multiple slots for everything from your smart phone to memory cards. And speaking of memory cards, the Velocity 6x employs Tamrac's exclusive Memory & Battery Management System that is comprised of little red flags that can indicate which are fresh cards or batteries and which are expired or used up.
In addition, the pack makes use of Tamrac's very versatile Modular Accessory System that will permit you to add on additional pouches to hold anything from another lens to a water bottle. Weighing in at a mere 1 lb, the Velocity 6x combines the advantages of both a backpack and sling pack and can make your shooting more expeditious and fun.

I use this bag with my Nikon D80 with an 18-200 zoom lens. With slight adjustment of the two inner partitions the camera fits nice and snug, almost too snug as the camera needs a little wiggling to remove it.
The sling configuration of the bag is convenient for accessing the camera and other compartments as well as sliding it to your back for travel. However, the strap has a tendency to irritate your neck as it rides up your shoulder. In this case convenience outweighs the occasional adjustments needed to keep the bag off your neck.
This bag is perfect if you plan on carrying a camera, extra SD card and other small accessories, otherwise you will need to carry another bag for everything else you use.

I bought this to use with my Canon 60D. I needed something portable that wouldn't become very tiresome to cary when walking a lot on vacation or at events.
It's small -- enough that it looks like I'm carrying a purse, ugh.
I guess it's the shape. Though the description says it's the perfect size for an average DSLR I find it to be a VERY tight squeeze. It feels like the opening at the top is just not deep enough from the front of the bag to the back so I have to practically cram my camera in there with a short 50mm lens attached (shorter than the kit lens) and there's not really room for the shoulder strap (which I need to pry the camera out of the cramped bag's death grip). Even worse when wearing the bag. And stowing the cam with my 300mm lens attached? Forget it.
Surprisingly there is room for a short second lens, barely. The memory card pockets in the front are nice. There's also room for my second battery up front.
Really my main complaint is that the bag is supposed to provide quick access to the camera without taking it off but I just find it to be as much hassle as my full size backpack. I can't imagine using this size with a 5D or a 1D, you'd have to go up in size -- which starts to defeat the purpose.
In the end I'd say if you're considering this bag and you have any of the Rebel or EOS Canons (or SLR of similar girth) to go for one size higher than the 6X. Or better yet, choose a different bag.

it is the bag I am looking for. It fits Sony A55 plus 50mm, and a 18-250 lens. a little tight, but it fits.

Comments about Tamrac 5766 Velocity 6x Sling Pack (Black):
Bag really holds only 2 items...a camera w/lens and 1 other (either a lens or flash). Even at that, the gear is very tight. The front storage pocket needs to be a little roomier as it really only works for thin items not much thicker than a battery. The zip lid has a small pouch underneath, but it too needs to be a little roomier. Also the interior velcro padded dividers are very difficult to get situated just right as they have too many velcro attaching straps. The carrying strap and handle are excellent. The overall size is right for carrying while shooting, and it is well constructed.

* haven't used this product too much yet but so far happy. previous reviews spot on. it fits nicely on back as a sling. if yo u have more than one lens though, going to be a tight squeeze. fits snug. like the others say, it bounces around so if you're going to be doing any chasing of the bulls you might want a two-strap bag. but for walking around, this bag is perfect.
it's small, but that is exactly what i wanted. if worried about fitting your other equipment, go next size up.

Works very well with my Pany GH1 and two spare lenses, so long as one of those lenses is the small 20mm f/1.7. Very well constructed bag. I highly recommend it.

This bag is very convenient for the photographer on the go. The bag was a little smaller and tighter fitting than I expected with a Canon 50D with a 28-105mm lens, which makes it a little difficult to pull the camera out and place it back in, but it does the job!

This is a great travel bag. Really easy to get into and out of. The pocket on the underside of the top zipper is a great place to keep memory cards or a little emergency cash when traveling. This bag was smaller than I expected but I can still fit my Nikon D80 in comfortably.

I just got back from Europe, 8 cities in 11 days and this bag went with me everywhere. It held everything I needed inside and with the extra gear, filter and flash, i clipped then right on the side with the optional accessories.

Comments about Tamrac 5766 Velocity 6x Sling Pack (Black):
I like the sling design, the bag is easy to open, and has convenient compartments. It feels secure on, but I wouldn't take it hiking as it bounces around a bit when worn in back. Also, I have a Canon XSi with kit lens, and that fits well in the bag... but its a squeeze to get the camera strap in there, too. I don't have any other lenses, but I doubt I could fit an extra lens in the bag anyway.

Perfect for me and my m4/3 gear. Can easily fit a small-bodied camera (epl1 for me) with room to expand with two additional lenses, or one lens / charger, etc. front pocket has adequate storage for extra cards, batteries, caps, filters, or just your keys and phone! comfortable sling-style fit which easily flips to the front to access your gear. great product at a great price!

I love this bag. It's compact and comfortable, but can hold a good amount of gear for a day's excursion. I easily fit a small umbrella in here once with my camera and an extra battery...too bad it didn't rain! I also like the shoulder strap. This design makes me feel safe knowing that it won't slip off, and won't get snatched in a crowded city.

Never before have I had a holster-like convenience with a camera bag.
Perfect size for what I carry (D80 2 lenses & Acc.).
Feels comfy, and sits ergonomically well.
All the other bags I have feel like a duffel, backpack, or a purse.
this one sits right and works well.

Comments about Tamrac 5766 Velocity 6x Sling Pack (Black):
I bought this pack from the awesome B & H store in Manhattan while on vacation. I use it for my small D-SLR (Olympus E-520 with kit zoom lens), and it works good. It is sort of a cross between a shoulder-strap style camera bag and a messenger bag. Strap is well designed to allow the pack to stay around on your back as you walk.
I can walk around with the pack around at my back, and quickly slide it to the front to grab my camera. If I want to use the camera for more than just a shot or two, I can slide the (now empty) sling pack around to my back and out of the way. The pack's nicely rounded shape helps when negotiating heavy pedestrian traffic on the sidewalk, etc.
This smallest of the sling packs is a good fit for my Olympus E520, but if I had a larger SLR, I would have gotten the next size larger pack.
As for the largest of these sling packs, they might become uncomfortable over a long day of walking around if you really had it loaded down with multiple lenses, an extra camera body, etc.
Note: the strap does not have a quick release buckle, so the pack cannot be easily fitted around your waist, fanny pack style.
