The Tamrac 5768 Velocity 8x Photo Sling Pack (Blue) is a 600 denier PolyTek bag designed to carry and protect a digital or film SLR with up to an 8" zoom lens attached, additional lenses, flash and accessories. The bag is versatile so it can be carried like a backpack, but can also be easily accessed by sliding the pack around to the front. The zippered Quick Flip Top opens away from the body for fast and convenient access to camera gear. There is a carry handle, a padded sling strap and a Tuck-A-Way waist belt that comfortably distributes the weight, but need not be removed to quickly access photo equipment.
The front pocket has organizer pockets inside to keep a mobile phone, PDA or photo accessories within easy reach. It also has a Memory & Battery Management System that uses red flags to identify available memory cards from ones that are used up. A pocket inside the lid stores filters and lens caps. Use the attachment slots of the M.A.S. (Modular Accessory System) to customize the sling pack.

I won a smaller Tamrac bag in a photography contest last year and used it for my Hybrid (midsize, 20x optical), so I knew what I was getting before I ordered. I recently purchased a DSLR and a 7" telephoto/zoom lens that I like to leave on the camera, so I wanted a "walk around" bag with easy accessibility to my camera. I do a lot of hiking -- wildlife and landscape photography -- and I enjoy the company of my two dogs, making it important that I can get my camera in and out fast whether it be because of a dog issue, or the sudden appearance of wildlife. And, hiking in rugged terrain makes weight a big consideration combined with good padding and comfort. The sling strap makes it easy to simply swing the bag in front of me with easy access to the zipper which opens from the inside out. I can then just lift the camera straight up and I'm ready to go.
There are plenty of pockets for extra cards and batteries. I also carry one wide angle lens and camera raingear. The unique shape of the bag cuts off the bulky corners of a typical backpack and probably lends to its lightness of weight. I call it "light", but there are lighter bags out there. I consider it light for my requirements. And again, the sling spreads out the weight and the hidden, built-in waist band spreads it even more, for a long trek.
Lastly, I have found one unusual and wonderfully beneficial use for this camera bag. One of my dogs weights 17 lbs and has short legs. He's a real gamer, but walking through 8 inches of snow, or through a fast moving stream gets tiring or dangerous for him. I swing the bag around to my front and set little Oliver facing forward on the pack and I can comfortably carry him using only one hand to balance him. His little legs bob up and down as we trek along. Who would've known??
Love the bag.

Cool looking and fits a big camera and lens, but I'm left-handed and the sling goes over the wrong shoulder for me. Also, after carrying it around for a while my shoulder started to hurt. This bag would be great if it had two straps so it could be used as a backpack, with the option to tuck one of the straps into a zippered compartment.

Comments about Tamrac 5768 Velocity 8x Sling Pack (Blue):
The bag has good, adjustable pockets for lenses and flash and is well-padded. The front pocket is fairly big but doesn't open very wide. There could be a little more space for accessories, but it hasn't been a problem. Nice bag overall.

Very good protection for the contents while traveling, but heavy for field work, does not allow for quick changes of lens (even though they claim it does) and strap padding is not long enough.

I have 2 of these bags in different sizes and really love them. I do a lot of street and documentary photography where I need immediate access to my camera. This bag makes it easy to grab the camera in an instant and be ready to shoot. Another positive feature is that it does not look like a camera bag. If you travel in rough neighborhoods, this is a plus!

This bag is my everyday camera bag. I carry my Nikon D60 with two lenses, flash, extra batteries for the camera and flash, the camera charger, extra memory cards, compact note pad, pen, and filter. I have traveled with this bag and it has been easy to access the camera and equipment without removing the bag off my shoulder. I love the memory cards slots. I even used the waist strap while hiking or walking around the city.

i just bougt a new lens, 70 - 200m.
and I need a case to hold it with the camera body attached.
It works great with my Canon 10D, also I can take my two other lens as well, (28 - 135m & 10 - 22m),plus my flash. It all fit in. Easy to get to and change lens without removing the bag from my side.
