The Tamrac 5769 Velocity 9x Photo Sling Pack (Black) is a 600 denier PolyTek bag designed to carry and protect a digital or film SLR with a 70-200mm zoom lens attached, additional lenses, flash and accessories. The bag is versatile so it can be carried like a backpack, but can also be easily accessed by sliding the pack around to the front. The zippered Quick Flip Top opens away from the body for fast and convenient access to camera gear. There is a carry handle, a padded sling strap and a Tuck-A-Way waist belt that comfortably distributes the weight, but need not be removed to quickly access photo equipment.
The front pocket has organizer pockets inside to keep a mobile phone, PDA or photo accessories within easy reach. It also has a Memory & Battery Management System that uses red flags to identify available memory cards from ones that are used up. A pocket inside the lid stores filters and lens caps. Use the attachment slots of the M.A.S. (Modular Accessory System) to customize the sling pack.

I have owned mine for over two years and still love it. It is sturdy and comfortable. I carry a Nikon D300 with battery grip, Nikon 70-200 2.8, a short lens like the 24-70 or a 12-24, one sb-900 and usually a few small things like a detailer lens or batteries, all the time. That's a snug fit but it works great.
I like the fit on the back. I am not a huge guy and it still feels like a good fit. The strap is adjusts relatively easily, good for loosening or tightening while on the move. It moves from back to chest and vice versa nicely. It looks good but does not scream steal me either.
I like using the bag on photo shoots. It keeps me mobile with lenses quickly at hand. (never got into the vest thing)
I did not value the build quality as much until I bought a shoulder bag from another manufacture for a different purpose. Amazing the build quality.
If still unsure about this bag, try this example for ruggedness and versatility. I was driving a snowmobile on bumpy roads and the tour did not stop frequently. I got tired of missing great shots so took the bag off the snowmobile rack, strapped it on my chest, opened the top (which by design kept the flap toward the snow being kicked up shielding my camera), strapped the camera strap on my neck as a safety and while driving between 30-60 mph, would whip the camera in and out of the bag to get amazing shots. As soon as shot potential was gone, effortlessly put it back in the bag without stopping. Only took a second to get it back out again. There are not too many bags you can do that with or I would trust.
I wish there were two zippers on the top flap and a full wrap rain guard. Never needed the rain guard but would be nice to know you have.
Highly recommended whether you are shooting portrait or outdoors.

The bag is good in concept--but there are problems with its execution. For one, it should not have been designed with rounded bottom corners as this reduces the effective length needed to store longer lenses.
The illustration on its accompanying card is quite deceptive: To switch from the high-on-back position to the hip-position (shooting position), one has to change the strap-length each time. This is not indicated at all, nor is there is any explanation of this accompanying the product. When heavily loaded, the pressure on the left shoulder is very uncomfortable no matter the case's position on your body.
The outer compartment offers no padded protection. It should be expandable to allow for an easier reach into its bottom. Its three internal pockets should be reduced to two: one left as-is and the other combined into one larger pocket.
Inside the main camera compartment, there is a zippered pouch built into the lid (that opens away from one). However, what's in this pouch is not visible as the lining is just fabric and not the transparent plastic used on their other cases.
The padded backside should have an exterior (slim) pocket for documentation (such as a folded map) but there is none. There ought to be two small accessory loops for hanging small items, but there are none.
There is no rain protection cloth as accompanies others' camera bags so I would advise one to carry a folded plastic bag just in case. There is plenty of room for one.

It is comfortable to wear. Not that bulking like other backpacks that I have used.It holds my nikon d80 with a Tamron 70-80 2.8 lens plus 3 other lens plus a flash unit. Plenty of room in the front to hold extra sd cards plus filters.

This is a very nice camera bag. Holds your DSLR
camera, one extra lense and smaller stuff can be put into the front pouch. Has a place where extra memory can be stored. Lots of padding and very well constructed.

The bag is well made and sturdy, but a little large for my taste. I had to increase from the 7" (which was perfect for carrying, but too small for both my lenses. Not sure I wouldn't have been just as well off with a square bag.

I use this out on weddings, and it's so much more versatile than another backpack that I was using. It's great to have it resting on your back but to be able to slide it around to the front really easily when you need another lens is just so incredible and timesaving!

I have a Canon 5D mark II "Gripped" meaning I have added a Canon Grip that holds two batteries for longer shoot time. This Velocity 9x sling pack is perfect and it even carries my Canon 580 exII flash and my Canon 480 II flash plus there is still anouther storage compartment that holds my camera Charging accessories and camera cables. I love the feature of this bag where I can swing it around and have instant access to everything. This company obviously put a lot of research into designing this bag. Features like the "Thumb" release to instantly without removing the bag turn from a backpack to a side bag. When you are ready to reposition the bag to a backpack just pull the strap and position without removing the bag.

I use a canon 5D mark II "Gripped" meaning my camera has an attachment that holds two batteries which makes the whole camera larger. I am an outdoor hobby Photographer. My Canon 5D Mark II Griped fits perfectly in the sling bag along with my two external flashes Canon 580 and 430 and there is more storage areas for memory cards , cables, I like that my camera and flash wall chargers fold up and fit perfectly in the extra storage area compartment.. ...This sling bag is great because I don't have to remove it to access all my gear, I just loosen the strap using the thumb slip and slid it around in front of me. I am glad I purchased this GEM. It is obvious after using this camera bag, The company put a lot of research into designing this bag. NOTE: this bag fits my needs well but with so many camera MFG out there I can't say yours will work as well as mine in this bag. I am Pleased with the bag.

Comments about Tamrac 5769 Velocity 9x Sling Pack (Black):
I really liked the idea of the fast access for walk-around / street photography. However I returned the bag after first use.
1. It does not hold what it is supposed to hold. Due to the rounded corners the second lens can not be a full length lens. I had my D300 with the 70-200/2.8 attached in the center and the 24-70/2.8 on the side. I had to squeeze it in which did not feel comfortable.
2. With these two admittedly not light weight lenses the bag chokes you with very high pressure on your chest ( I am athletic and 6'-3").
I exchanged this one against the the Tamrac Speedpack 85 Dual Access and that finally does what I needed. The weight is distributed like a normal backpack and it still offers the quick access.
So unfortunately I cannot give this bag a good rating. The quality however, like for all Tamracs I have owned so far is outstanding.

I have a Canon 5D with a 2.8 70-200mm lens. This bag is deep enough that I can keep the long lens on the camera, and it's well-designed for quick access on the run.
Not the right bag for carrying all your lenses and accessories, but for a day of shooting, it's ergonomic and lets you get your camera out extremely quickly.
I've only had it for a short time, but it seems rugged and likely to last.
