Comments about Audio-Technica ATW-1821D Deluxe Kit:
I rate this kit at 5 stars but have a couple of non-positive comments...
The performance of this wireless kit has definitely surpassed my expectations. Noise levels are very low and the ATW-1802D transmitters offer adequate gain for my dynamic mics. The Lav. transmitters, together with the AT899cW mics yield really excellent results.
In fact, after testing the system, I immediately ordered an extra ATW-1802D with a second RE50B mic. The design of these mics is AMAZINGLY effective at reducing handling noise while providing superb speech signals.
Now the non-positive comments. First, the dual receiver works very well and appears extremely durable. I have nothing but praise for its performance and functionality. However, I haven't been able to find the acceptable voltage range for the external power input. It is only given as "nominal 12V". Audio-Technica has not responded to the enquiry that I sent their Tech Support several days ago. I want to know if it would be OK to power the receiver from my Lithium battery at 11 - 16.6V, depending on the state of charge.
My second non-positive is that the Pelican case which B&H packages as part of this kit, really isn't quite big enough, even without the additional items that I purchased.
However, I am extremely pleased with the purchase and unhesitatingly recommend this kit for all but the most demanding studio/concert recordings.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATW-1821D Deluxe Kit:
I am a freelance DP who shoots cable TV, corporate interviews, and weddings. This is appropriate for a cameraman, but not as nice as a Lectro kit a soundman would have. If you compare this to a Lectro, you will notice this kit has more ambient noise. The Lectro transmits with more power, so interference is less of an issue there as well. This kit actually comes with FOUR lavs - the two cheap ones included with the belt packs, and two nicer models with lots of accessories to attach them with. I didn't need the mic flag, since I'm usually provided with one by the client. The Pelican carrying case is the best you can buy. Overall, I like the performance very much and there are no issues with the audio. Having two receivers in one box is awesome. You can't beat a Lectrosonics for quality, but this kit delivers lots of bang for the buck.

Comments about Audio-Technica ATW-1821D Deluxe Kit:
I used this for broadcasting to weddings to web video. It is a solid performer. The kit comes with every thing you need. Sound quality is great for the price you pay.
The hand held mic is a bit low but that is how that mic is.... not the receiver's fault.
It is very plasticy, so do not drop them.
plus the built quality is questionable. My transmitter for the handheld died on the second day. Receiver is heavy. Especially after you put all 6 AA mics.
