The Photoflex StarFlash Mercury 650W/s 5' OctoDome Kit with Case provides enough power for many shooting situations. From portraiture to an intricate still-life requiring a small f/stop, the StarFlash series delivers.
This kit includes 1- 5' (1.5 m) diameter OctoDome softbox, stand and a kit case with interior compartments. The monolight can be used with a reflector, umbrella, or included OctoDome softbox. The included Tilt Swivel Mount is secure and allows for a tilt range of 170°. The Tilt Swivel can be repositioned on the StarFlash to compensate for weight imbalance when using larger soft boxes.
The StarFlash can be fired with the included mono-to-PC sync cord, or via its optical slave, from another flash but a better alternative is the included FlashFire Wireless Remote System which allows you to trigger your StarFlash at distances up to 164' The beauty of the system is that it doesn't depend on "line-of-sight" communication between the transmitter and receiver. That means that you can trigger the flash through obstructions like walls, doors etc. Forget about that tangle of dangerous PC cords and potential damage to toppling equipment.
Both the FlashFire Wireless Trigger and the FlashFire Wireless Receiver operate on the 2.4 GHz bandwidth. 16 selectable channels virtually eliminate interference or overlap with other photographers on the scene. And neither are energy vampires. The transmitter runs on an easily-sourced CR2 (not included) with a battery life of approximately 20,000 flashes and has a handy hot shoe for shoe mount flashes. The receiver runs on 2 AAA batteries (not included) with a standby time of up to 45 hours (50 m).

Comments about Photoflex StarFlash 650W/s 5' OctoDome Kit with Case:
It's nice to get so much light for this price, and the octodome is very well done. Of course, considering the price, you should not expect to receive something that looks like a broncolor. Even though there's a lot of plastic components, it does the job well. Strangely, when I received it, the front fixture where you attach the octodome on the flash was screwed loosely, so I have to fix it. The stand is definitively too weak to support the total weight of the flash with the octodome. Personally, I replaced it with a stronger one. It's a must to do it if you go outside and want to avoid that your octodome swing like a sunflower in the wind.

This gear provide with nice and smooth light that is perfect for portraiture. Only one complain - my strobe is too noisy (probably fan doesn't installed properly).[...] Still it's not a big deal.

The octodome provides soft light in indoor conditions. Easy to set up and powerful. It will be even better if it recycles faster.

Comments about Photoflex StarFlash 650W/s 5' OctoDome Kit with Case:
The strobe is great actually it's amazing. I'm so happy that I can shoot with small apertures. The stand is heavy and strong with a wide footprint, I actually didn't need sand bags but I suggest that you have at least one just incase. The bag is nice I think I might of gotten one of the older ones only because it doesn't look as nice as the ones on the photoflex website but o well. The octobox is amazing but be prepared for a struggle if you have never set up soft boxes before. The octobox provides great diffusion and I am so happy that I got it.
