Item returned and exchanged for Billingham 445. Nothing wrong with 335, I've had two 335s before. Can't beat Billingham.

Comments about Billingham 335 Shoulder Bag (Khaki with Tan Leather Trim):
This is my fourth Billingham. I've yet to own one that I had to replace because of it wearing out; they were simply sold because of needs and requirements at the time. I currently own the 335 and a Hadley Pro.
These bags have never disappointed me. The quality is excellent. Some people have expressed difficulties in opening the bag quickly, but in fact it's designed to allow for immediate access. I think it simply takes time to get used to the "Billingham mindset" along with a small learning curve. But it is always going to be a compromise between protection and ease of access. The protection is important to me.
The other consideration is the styling and design of the bag. It's not a "modern" looking bag by any means. But if you lean towards a classic look, then this bag should satisfy you. I personally like this look and the bag actually looks better after some years of heavy use. It's the difference between a nylon messenger bag and a leather briefcase. Nylon looks shoddy after years of use but leather always looks good. Billinghams take on a graceful patina over time. Just be sure you like that sort of thing, otherwise the standard nylon camera bags can function just as well as a Billingham in the end. But they can wear out faster.
My choice has always been either Domke or Billingham. There's a large price difference but the Billinghams have survived the longest and protect the best. This particular Billingham is the right size for just the right amount of equipment without being a burden. A larger bag would be too heavy when full. I use the smaller Hadley Pro for one camera and lens for casual use.
Be certain to look at these bags in person and also determine the proper size for your needs before committing. The "right" camera bag is a very subjective thing.

Comments about Billingham 335 Shoulder Bag (Khaki with Tan Leather Trim):
This is the perfect bag, with a lot of room and several compartments. The few extra inches it has on the 225 model makes a big difference (I tried both). The function is superb while not having to forgo style. And with so much padding (that isn't bulky and doesn't get in the way), I don't worry about the safety of my equipment.
I'm smaller framed and do find the bag to be quite heavy and too large when full. It can be awkward for me to carry.

Comments about Billingham 335 Shoulder Bag (Khaki with Tan Leather Trim):
I bought my bag in 1978 and even after 31 years it is still in a great condition. Besides a little fading from the sun and some scars on the leather, the bag is perfect. It has been is pretty much all conditions you can think of. From the hot and humit tropics to freezing cold, in downpours, you name it.

Comments about Billingham 335 Shoulder Bag (Khaki with Tan Leather Trim):
The bag allows the user any type of internal configuration that best suits the equipment carried within. I use a Nikon D2X body with a 17mm - 35mm lens and the combination can be rather large. The camera/lens can be positioned horizontally within the bag for maximum protection when rough handling is anticipated and positioned upright when easy access is required. The internal equipment dividers are padded square channels that maintain their form better than simple divers used in other camera bags. A rigid base with padded side is included and when placed within the bottom of the bag, equipment within the interior compartment is protected on all sides without impeading access to the bag. Considering the investment of a pro-camera body, lens, second lens, and flash unit, a high quality bag will ensure that your best equipment is in tact for the next assignement.

I drag my cameras around in all types of weather and found this bag to be great. It provides outstanding protection.
The only negative about this bag is a little slow to get into.
Comments about Billingham 335 Shoulder Bag (Khaki with Tan Leather Trim):
I've used this bag for about 4+ years now. The only con is the weight, but you get used to it. The best feature is its ease of use as the shoulder pad stays on your shoulder and the bag on your hip. The top stays widely open so each lens is easy to get at, simply by feel. This is mostly due to the stiffness of the bag (much more so than the Domke). Despite the stiffness the bag stays on your hip without rocking. The stiffness adds to the protection, which is a strong feature of this bag. It can be tossed onto a hard surface from 5 feet without worrying about damaging the contents. The zipper closure has allowed me to drive down dusty Mississippi roads and to work in the North African desert with dirtying the equipment. I worked in a steady rain for three days in France, working out of the bag with the top flap protecting the gear--nothing wet. As a test, it sat out in a thunderstorm with a sugar cube inside--it stayed dry inside. The bag can be a little slow to get into with all closures buttoned up (zipper, top flap, and handle snaps), and you can miss some shots--but you can opt to keep them open, and as I said, the top flap kept the rain out by itself. The high initial expense of the bag is well worth it for the protection and ease of use. It's also handsome.

Comments about Billingham 335 Shoulder Bag (Khaki with Tan Leather Trim):
As a woman photographer, I always deserved to carry a camera bag that looks good and features perfectly as a camera bag. I've tried so many bags, Billingham is the ultimate winner for me. I mean it DOES have some Cons. mostly because of its heavy weight and high price but having looks, functions, and quality, those two things were acceptable. Especially in terms of high price, it is totally worth it as I use Billlingham products more and more. I'm currently using 550, 335, and 206. It is a shame that my personal favorite material/color of Nytex/Stone has been discontinued!!! It is definitely beautiful color and tough fabric than the canvas..I've been exchanging emails with Billingham people and they said that they were experiencing difficulties getting Nytex materials and due to sales decrease on Nytex materials, they decided to discontinue on Nytex and introducing a new material which is Fibrenyte line. Besides, Billingham also announced that their Canvas Olive has been replaced by Fibrenyte Sage color. Anyhow, I hope Billingham keeps their great work on producing one of the best camera bags! Get one for yourself if you are serious about your photography???!!! Billingham bags are definitely worth it!
