The Earthworks LP1530 Level-Pad is an in-line attenuator that provides -15 and -30dB attenuation and minimizes distortion by providing added headroom. The Level-Pad is typically packaged with Earthworks drum microphone packages and provides much needed headroom to drum and percussion microphones. The Level-Pad features standard XLR-male to XLR-female connections for use with any condenser microphone.

Have used this while filming bands and events. Where it was impossible previously, I can now switch from -15db to -3db at the flick of a switch, and the sound quality is impeccable (using a sennheiser shotgun mic).
Sturdy material (not light weight flimsy) but made to last. Very happy with the purchase.
