Comments about Sony ECM-44B - Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone:
Using this mic with a Sony VX2000 didn't capture great audio. Had to increase the gain in FCP to the max and it was still too low. A bit more research led me to the DXA-2T XLR adapter. Running the mic through this adapter, attached to my camcorder, made all the difference. Audio is now captured perfectly. This is a really nice mic.

Comments about Sony ECM-44B - Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone:
I use this for interviews as part of a "dual system" HDSLR / Zoom H4n setup. Nice build quality and I like that it has its own case so you can protect it from damage in transit if you are inclined to be a careful person and stow it neatly in your kit.

I usually go wireless but like to be hardwired for live shots and other situations. This mic does everything I need it to do including being dependable, durable and delivering top notch sound.

Comments about Sony ECM-44B - Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone:
Easy to use, great sound.
The option to self power the mic takes the load of the camera battery. The weight of the battery/XLR housing made dropping it down clothing effortless.
It would be even better if the mic had a mini jack that plugged into the battery/XLR housing. I am a little concerned about the strain placed on the connection when we pull the housing back up through the clothing by the mini cable.

Comments about Sony ECM-44B - Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone:
The mic is very solid and is great for interviews. I've used it several times in the couple weeks I've had it and I can't believe I didn't already own one. If you are going wired, this is the best cost/performance you can get!

Comments about Sony ECM-44B - Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone:
I use 4 Sony ECM-44B Lavalier mics for my job as a Legal Videographer... they are great for my line of work... Unfortunately after about 40 times of someone walking away and thus tugging on the mic line - I do have to replace... but in general they hold up great and I recommend them

Comments about Sony ECM-44B - Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone:
I've only had the chance to put them through one interview. I popped in the in-line AAs, plugged them into a Marantz 661D, and did an interview. The sound came out great.
My previous lapel mics were a disaster to work with; based on this first run, they were easy to set up and captured good sound.

Comments about Sony ECM-44B - Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone:
You can't go wrong with a Sony ECM 44B. Sounds great, compact, durable, all the goods. The only con is that this cannot be used with phantum power. Has to have a battery so pack extra when in the field. Batteries last forever in one of these but always carry a spare.

Comments about Sony ECM-44B - Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone:
I teach a high school video production class, that produces a daily News program for the school. We have been using the Sony ECM-44B for the last 7 years. We are adding a sports person to the program and went immediatly back to the ECM-44B, because if you have every worked with high school students you know that you need something that will stand-up to excessive abuse and the ECM-44B does exactly that.

Comments about Sony ECM-44B - Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone:
Sounds fantastic for a lav mic and especially for its price range. I always go for a shotgun or hypercardioid mic whenever possible, but if you're going to use a lav, this is the one to get! Don't bother with wireless lavs when you can use these and it sounds as good as a wireless setup that would cost you over a grand.
