I bought this to replace my passive subwoofer was I upgraded to a receiver which required an active one. I had a pretty tight space it needed to fit into and I wanted one which had an auto off/on feature and not pay a small fortune. I went ahead and bought this one and so far, I am not disappointed. It is pretty big, but it fits perfectly and looks really nice. setup was a piece of cake, flip 2 switches and turn up the volume. The only down side is the auto on/off feature. it does seem to take a little bit of time to detect the signal and then turn on, which can be annoying. It also has turned off a few times when there was only text for a while, which is also annoying. This not a deal breaker and certainly not a fault of Sony or design (how are they supposed to know for how long to keep it), so I am going to get one of those power strips which has a master outlet which controls a few other ones and then just have my receiver be the master device and have the subwoofer turn on and off with it (will need to leave the subwoofer in the on position). Overall, a great buy.

Have an Q line SLS audio home theater system that has unbelievable sound for the price that I paid for it (caught it at [...] during their clearance of selling it). Unfortunately my sub got messed up in a floor in my basement and had to be replaced. Was considering this sub and the Yamaha that is similarly priced and chose this one frankly because I am cheap. It has taken me a minute to tweak the EQ, but it finally delivers decent bass. The power-save is a joke and has to be turned off or else the sub keeps cutting in and out, plus I have the cutoff frequency nearly at max, but in the end it compliments the rest of the system adequately

Comments about Sony SA-W2500 100W Powered 10" Subwoofer:
Bought to use with a Sony 7.2 receiver and replace a passive sub... thought I was going to have to trash it... surprisingly there were output speaker connections on it so I just simply hooked my old sub to this one. Bass was good without it but a little more dynamics is cool.

Comments about Sony SA-W2500 100W Powered 10" Subwoofer:
This sub replaced my 9 year old sub that failed after I experienced some power surges. This sub adds so much more base and it was only slightly larger than the older sub. I had to turn the volume down half way because it was rattling the windows and cabinet doors. I would recommend this sub to anyone who's surround speakers are a little lacking on the bass side. This sub fills my family room, dinette area and kitchen portion of the house. Only minor annoyance is the auto shutoff feature kicks in during dialog only scenes during a movie or during the news. Otherwise it will turn back on when music is played in the background. Work around is to flip the auto off switch to ON.

Great to accent a setup for music or movies like I do. Not overly powerful, but it shouldn't be either. Sounds really good. The auto off feature doesn't seem to work but I'm not complaining because I got a great deal.

Comments about Sony SA-W2500 100W Powered 10" Subwoofer:
I purchased this subwoofer along with a pair of Sony SS-F6000 4-way floor speakers almost a year ago and I haven't looked back since. Excellent value for a 100 watt 10" subwoofer and adds plenty of bass to everything I listen too. In fact, I have the bass turned down a little on my A/V receiver because this subwoofer is very efficient. It is a little large, but any powered 10" subwoofer isn't going to be any smaller. Besides, it looks great and it matches the Sony speakers I have connected too. I was debating between this and the 12" subwoofer by Sony and I'm glad I went for this one. It is perfect for home audio, whether it's music or movies.
The auto on feature is nice because I have recently reorganized my theater setup and now the subwoofer is behind the TV stand and is hard to get too. There is a small delay (5 seconds at most) before it turns on, but that doesn't affect anything for me. I'm not in a rush for great sounding audio.
This unit is priced low for the quality you will get. I paid almost $5 dollars more for it last year and would gladly do it again if a friend or relative is looking for a subwoofer to add to their home theater. This was a great buy and is a quality product. Enjoy.

I love the new sony subwoofer. Sounds great. It has an auto shut off feature which is nice but would prefer a longer delay before the auto shut off so it does not click off so fast during a part of a movie or show that is not producing base.

Comments about Sony SA-W2500 100W Powered 10" Subwoofer:
It's cheap, but not cheaply made. It's black, but my racist friends accept it. Its complexity level to hook it up to the receiver makes it easy, but not like my ex-girlfriend. I guess what I'm sayin' is I like it. It serves its purpose in life & that's to bring out the low tones when I'm watching a movie. If you don't have a subwoofer for your home theatre & you're on a budget or you're a tightwad, get this while it's in stock. It will improve your life & extend your lifespan. Chicks dig it. My current lady likes playing a little Barry White & so does my new subwoofer!
