The Kenwood ProTalk XLS Two-Way Radio is aimed at business users who need a rugged, versatile, yet lightweight radio for a variety of indoor applications. The tough polycarbonate exterior protects the radio components while it is clipped to a belt or carried in hand. Extraneous buttons have been eliminated to streamline operation, and a backlit 4-digit, 7-segment LCD display keeps the radio's status and information readily accessible.
This ProTalk radio also features continuous Quiet Talk and Digital Quiet Talk to eliminate interference, and has 38 (QT) or 83 (DQT) talk group tones to keep communiques from crossing over. It also has lockout, to manage voice traffic, and Privacy Talk, to scramble conversations for total privacy.
Battery life is variable with the addition of an accessory battery pack. The TK-3130 comes with a standard 10-hour battery that can be upgraded at a later point to a longer-lasting Kenwood battery. In case of battery drain, this radio can accept three AA batteries, and to conserve power the 1W output can be dropped to 500 mW.
