The VZ-AUTO RIG Vehicle Mount Kit from Varizoom is a professional mount kit that allows you to affix your DV mini, DV, or HD camera to a moving vehicle. It enables cinematic, moving-vehicle perspectives from various angles. When not used as vehicle mount, this unit can also double as a low-level tripod. The unit's swivel-lock, mounting system allows straps to be secured with full, even force at nearly any angle without twisting or distressing the straps.
The case includes multiple compartments for easy inventory of components. Custom rubber cups are included to absorb shock and vibration and protect the vehicle surface. The supplied harness of straps with hooks attach to the edge of a door or hood. The system can be used with most flat-base tripod heads (3/8" 16 thread) or the included heavy-duty swivel head. The included adjustable swing arm makes low-level and other extreme positions and angles possible. No tools are needed for setup.

A nice addition for independent film or even cool home movies. Mounts easily and quickly. Very versatile. Works well in a variety of set-ups. Obviously works best on smooth roads with a vehicle with good suspension. Otherwise, you'll get vibration, and the picture will jump every time the car does.

I am an engineer and used this product to mount a Sony HD camcorder with GPS capabilities for a visual roadway condition survey. The mount worked well until the cast aluminum "fitting" that holds the legs to the base broke. It was still usable but that fitting needs to be a machined unit, not cast. The arm worked relatively well but in winds of 15 mph, would constantly turn...couldn't get it any tighter. I would recommend this product but it does have its limitations.

We are putting an HVX200 with accessories (~18lbs) on this car mount and it works well. Just testing it out when first received it can be hard to find mounting points on older import cars as they have more... rolled edges... for a lack of better term (at least the car we were using). It felt really solid at speeds well above 30mph and over rough terrain. The arm severely reduces the weight and travel capabilities, but also really comes in handy. Even with a much lighter bare GL-2 the arm was extremely hard to lock down tight and would swivel when turning faster than 5 mph. There are a few extra accessories in the case like a replacement tie down strap and the case is extremely handy. Only other thing was that one of the suction cups started to tear the first time using. [...]
