The MDR-7506 is a staple within the recording, film and live arenas. Due to its low impedance and closed ear design, the headphone does an outstanding job of cutting down background noise while providing plenty of volume in the studio or in the field. Additionally, the closed design helps eliminate "headphone bleed" when overdubbing in the studio.
The MDR-7506 is an around-the-ear design and is ideal for use with MIDI workstations, camcorders or other equipment with less than powerful headphone amplification. The headphone has a foldable design, making it convenient to store or transport.

I use these every day in my job. I work in the games industry, and I needed a pair of headphones with great audio quality for game dialogue. I also wanted headphones that could block out noise without noise-canceling technology. These headphones really help block out the noise around me - even better than my Bose noise-canceling headphones. When the Bose would cut out ambient noise, they voices around me were much more prominent. These effectively work as mufflers, helping to block out the ambient noise and the voices. The sound quality is also fantastic - I've heard things in dialogue (such as a tiny chair squeak) that others could not detect. These have been a great choice for work. They are also durable - I've dropped them a few times and dragged them along with my rolling chair and they still look new. They fold up, which is also handy and came with a carrying case. I only gave them four stars because I have a small head and the headband portion makes my head sore if they aren't in exactly the right position.

Slim profile allows you to use them while shooting hand held. Typical "Japaneses" sounding with somewhat overemphasized mid-range that helps you hear voice well but can drive you crazy with phantom mic rustling sound that seems to disappear in the edit room. I'm buying pair number 2 because first one bit the dust, cable problems. Not the most rugged pair for field work but OK enough.

I sold my Bose QC3's and decided to go with these after a good music producer friend of mine steered me toward these. I love the sound and they are very comfortable. The bass doesn't get distorted like the Bose and Beats By Dre. This set is the BEST BANG for the BUCK!!!!

I use these for video editing. Good, clean sound and comfortable to wear for long periods of time. The material that covers the padded earpieces seems to be coming loose after only using them a few times... I don't know if it is poor design or the way I handle them??? but that is the only problem I have had. Overall nice, professional product.

I bought these headphones for work and I could not be happier. I do video work, and a lot of writing and to be honest I just needed something that I could wear all day without becoming uncomfortable. I'll be honest, I don't know much about sound, but the quality is great for me. The cord is long enough to reach where I need it to go and it doesn't get in the way. Great pair of headphones!

These are simply the best headphones I have every used for mixing and sound editing. The large earpad cover my ears completely and make wearing them for prolonged periods of time very comfortable. They give a true flat sound with no extra low end. Simply put these are excellent - no wonder they are the industry standard.

The Sony MDR-7506 headphones are solid and useful kit that I wouldn't be caught without. They are rugged and reliable, and can endure a fair bit of abuse while still sounding pretty good. They aren't the most accurate or clean headphones available, but for production work they can't be beat, especially at their price.

Very happy with my purchase of the sony mdr-7506 headphones. It was delivered on time and was properly packaged and sustained no damage. These are the first pair of over-ear headphones I have bought. I use them to listen to music/movies on my computer. I find the sound crisp but also with full bass. The best of both worlds in my opinion. I would recommend this product to friends and family.

The Sony Mdr-7506 isn't Bad, especially because of its price, but if you look at the Sony Mdr-V6 i think you will got the same quality for 15 dollars less because from what I read all the composant are the same but the Gold plaqued adaptor...if you think the extra jewellery worth the 15 box well take them. I was just dreaming trough an Urban legend when i think this Headphones was Hi-Fi for low price, they sound flat, are good for monitoring rock or jazz, but they have a lack of frequency range that can make them sound pretty bad when you listen to extremely complex and demanding music like we can heard today, i found myself being unable to listen to Fennesz, Vladislav Delay, Tim Hecker and other musician that mix a lot of different sound at the same time to create an architectural music that must use all the capacities of more than average Headphones...the Sony mdr-7506 isnt more than average Headphones. It worth its price, but I prefer the sound quality of the Sennheiser Hd280...in the two case the bass is'nt punchy as a Big Subwoofer but the Hd280 never distort on me, i can't say the same for the Mdr-7506.

I've been using these headphone ever since Sony introduced them. As a broadcast professional they are the best I've ever found for multiple situations. Good live, in studio, in booth and on camera. Not colored at all. No false bottom end. Clear, clean, perfect

My boyfriend got me these headphones for my birthday after he had recommended them to me months prior. I had been looking for a pair that would a) block out outside noise b) be easy to travel with c) not break the bank and lastly but most importantly, d) deliver exceptional sound quality. These headphones tick all boxes!
I can wear them without playing music to block out annoyances but not be completely deaf while running around downtown. They fold up easily and fit conveniently in the travel pouch included, which is the perfect size to throw into my handbag. The sound quality is just great! I listen to a lot of acappella, acoustic, and rock music. Using these headphones has let me hear things I've never heard before. The bass with some headphones can sound muddled because it's so low, but not with these. Everything is crystal clear and I find myself getting stuck playing and replaying music, rejoicing when I hear something new on my old tunes!
I would definitely recommend these headphones to anyone looking for a professional quality piece. My only thumbs down is that the leather pads on the ear part can trap the heat from your head and become too warm over time. I also have the foam replacements that I hear will prevent this (I have yet to try those). This is such a minor detail though that it doesn't truly affect my overall love of this product. Go out and get a pair, you won't regret it! Enjoy!

Very good sound quality. The base is as good as I expected. Also, can easily distinguish different instrumentals. Cold as sony's headphone and earphone always are.
It is better than the sony mdr-ex500 I have. However, the difference is not that big.

I've been using this product for about two weeks, mainly on my laptop and on portable media players; they sound even better with my Fiio E6 portable headphone amplifier (less than $30).
I find the sound not too bright but rather neutral, I think they sound great and seem very durable, except for the earpads, but obviously that's minor. They are hard to beat for the price, especially with the overpriced gadgets that are invading the market nowadays.
I know some people don't like how they look, so you might want to actually see what they look like on someone before committing. I myself love the vintage look, and I love that I won't be buying a new pair every 6 months.
I use them with the velour padded Beyerdynamic earcushions (originally replacements for Beyerdynamic DT 250 and 280; item BEEDT250V on here), and they are very comfortable, not too clenching (and I have a large head). These earcushions are a great upgrade, they don't stick to the ears when sweating (like the pleather originals do), they are more comfortable, and I even think the headphones look better with those.
These are great headphones of professional grade, for all of us who refuse to buy shiny overpriced gadgets. They're a great buy for under $100, and are flat out better than some $200 headphones out there.
