The VXT4 from KRK is a high-quality two-way active monitor speaker that's great for use in professional or project studios. The ported, low-resonance cabinet houses a rigid 4" woven Kevlar woofer designed for extended low frequency response, as well as a 1" silk dome tweeter. Both drivers have vented formers to reduce power compression effects and maintain great sound. The sleek, curved design of the monitor creates terrific imaging qualities and offers a wide sweet spot.
The rear of the cabinet sports an XLR/TRS combo input jack. Controls include high and low frequency adjustment switches, a level control, an auto mute switch, and clip indicator/limiter switch. A ground-lift switch helps to eliminate hum cause by ground loops, and a voltage selector switch makes it easy to use the monitor internationally.

I use these for video post-production. I almost went with the 6" version, but I'm glad I didn't. Low end sounds great. I cannot believe how much base these 4" woofers can produce.

Comments about KRK VXT4 - 45W 4" Two-Way Active Nearfield Studio Monitor (Single):
These speakers pack a lot of punch into a small area. I am using them for nearfield monitoring in audio recording and post production settings.
My biggest beef with them is that there is a fair amount of amplifier noise that really bugs me. There might be a bit of a bass resonance, despite slotted ports, because I get a loss of clarity because of a bump around 200 Hz. Perhaps the way I have them set up is not optimal for their sound, but it's really the only option now due to limited desk space.
I like the fact that there is a clip limiter to protect the drivers. The auto shutoff is another nice power saving feature, but it takes too much of a kick to get them going again, in my opinion. Both the limiter and auto off can be turned off with rear switches.
The sound quality is pretty good considering the sound of the speakers. Maybe not entirely balanced, but you can't really expect that with 4" drivers and tweeters.

Comments about KRK VXT4 - 45W 4" Two-Way Active Nearfield Studio Monitor (Single):
Got these to monitor LP recordings to my computer hard drive. Got to say that they sound better than any computer speakers that I've ever heard, with a sound comparable to very high quality bookshelf speakers. If desk space is an issue for you, these are a great choice for listening to music through a pC. Note that you may have some noise problems connecting your soundcard audio out 3.5 mm mini stereo (unbalanced) to the balanced xlr connectors (balanced). The ground lift switches on the VXT4 take care of most of this. A direct box eliminates it completely, if you can stand the loss in gain.
